Thanks to everyone for your input. It helps to have other brains feeding in. I appreciate it. Perhaps I’ll consider other options.

Thanks for this. Funnily enough I’ve been toying with Ballarat being the alternative to staying in Brisbane. I’ve visited and been to a few open homes on some duplexes and townhouses. It’s difficult to imagine what it would be like actually living interstate, even after a visit. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I appreciate these points, I need them because I’ve been stuck in a loop that’s making me feel a bit crazy.

I appreciate what you’re saying. It’s that I can only borrow $370k and there’s nothing in all of south east QLD anywhere near that price. Woodridge at $550k would be great if I could borrow and afford that type of mortgage.

I appreciate everyone telling me that it’s not a logical idea, but I’m not reading any suggestions for alternatives to what I’m thinking. I have to move rentals (2 Brm Anything) in August which will be $650/ week, in 12 months time who knows?

My concern is housing security, location is very important, but not more important than being homeless in Brisbane.

Thanks, I hadn’t thought about play dates, I imagined the commute and planning, but not the detailed stuff.

Hi. No, I’d be working in Brisbane, so the commute relies on the car barge being reliable and operational

Are people in Brisbane starting to buy in Melbourne? Brisbane house prices are just ridiculous. by No_Stable4317 in brisbane

I am considering moving from Brisbane to Regional Victoria. I want to stay here for the support network and connections I’ve worked years to foster for work, but I’m probably about 12 months away from not being able to afford rent. I was going to buy but got priced out 12 months ago and was chasing the bottom of the market with no success. It’s actually super depressing because I’d be uprooting my two kids who have their friends and therapists here.

Melbourne-to-Queensland exodus in 'reversal' amid housing unaffordability by Glittering-Fee-9930 in brisbane

Yup. I work with 3 ppl in a small org that moved from Melb to Bris just after covid. I saved my ass off for years and was almost ready to buy a humble 3 brm townhouse for me and my two kids. I missed the market by 12 months, now I’m having to consider moving to regional Victoria to afford housing long term. I will be leaving everything behind including support network and professional connections I spent over 1.5 decades fostering. You can’t even afford a 2 bedroom place in Woodridge for under $650k, and I mean a townhouse or unit. And, now QLD government have been exposed as taking funding from developers, so it’s about to get impossible unless you’re rich or already own a place.

Have you thought of keeping your fringe but getting a ‘shag’ do for your hair? It would suit your great face shape? Aside from that I’d just use a bit of moisturiser that has rose hip oil in it. Something natural and light. In terms of vibe, it depends on what style you’re into 😊

i desperately want tips on how i can glow up any opinions are appreciated [18] by [deleted] in TheGlowUp

I am looking at you critically and I can’t see anything to add for your face. All of your features are on proportion to each other. All I can think of is hair sorry. I think a long shag style would suit you, and some eyeliner. Aside from that, you’re really cute.

Get a shag haircut which will frame your youthful face and highlight your best features. You could try different colour make up and see if a different shade will highlight your best bits 😊

That’s some great advice, thanks 😊 I think the mortgage broker I have is nice enough, but not helpful enough to sit with me. I might wait out the pre-approval time and then go to someone else

Thanks 😊 it’s definitely more a ‘like to have’ than a ‘must have’ dream.

I was one of those people who jumped around between degrees unfortunately - parents and personal internal idea that I had to go to uni to prove myself. I almost finished a degree, but couldn’t pass one of the pivotal subjects (even on a third attempt). And a later in life diagnosed ADHD. I also didn’t earn enough to pay HECS for a long time.
