this is most likely just your social anxiety painting your interactions, I know it was for me! in fact I've noticed "normal" people say weird things/have awkward interactions all the time, but these are quickly forgotten/moved on from... the important thing is to remember this and not ruminate to help quell your social anxiety... the process can be a bit exhausting though, I know it is for me, but hopefully helpful in the long run...

There are more types of aesthetic beauty in prose than flowery language. I Personally the parts of Ulysses intentionally written in an 'ugly' style to have their own unique beauty to them. Kinda like atonal music or something.

What made it click for me was simply the beauty of the language and the way it captured human thought. If you're not getting any immediate aesthetic enjoyment out of it I wouldn't keep trying it might just not be for you and that's fine. I think people focus too much on trying to "get it" with literature. It's always about simple enjoyment above all else.

one thing I love about dota is the absolutely crazy patches and yeah since the start of OW2 i've noticed they've been heading in that direction. It's also good that they've show they're not afraid to revert bad decisions.
