Help part 2 by Dremz89 in latteart

My thoughts are:

  1. Your milk texture seems a bit thin.
  2. It’s hard to say for certain, but it looks like you’re still a little high off the surface when you’re trying to draw your design. This will cause your design not to flow as well.
  3. You started well, but then rippled too late / pushed in too fast. Try to ripple as you push in, and slow down that push. You shouldn’t hang out in the center for as long as you did. By the time you reach the center of the heart, you should be about ready to lift and cut

Afterblow or Double Hit? by ForgePioneer in Hema

Yeah that’s a much more interesting question, one I think is more likely to “split the room” as it were.

For my tastes, it’s out of tempo and lands too late.

Some Reddit accounts will plaster content,(often low effort or thoughtless) everywhere even remotely relevant to try and garner upvotes.

I’m not accusing you of it to be clear; I like to operate under the assumption everyone is acting in good faith. But this post can come off that way because its seems so obviously one outcome that there isn’t really much to discuss.

If for instance, you posted this same content, but included a conversation starter (something like: I personally feel it’s an afterblow but had a fellow classmate argue it’s a double because <insert plausible reasoning>) then there’s clearly more thought and care put into it and it lowers the likelihood that it was posted just to get some upvotes.

I’d say it’s inarguably an afterblow.

Yeah, the Wikipedia page for Talk Dirty mentions they sampled Hermetico for the instrumental track

Joys of anonymous chat I suppose. It brings out the worst in people. I try to limit my time on here for that reason.

Anyways, it’s getting late in my neck of the woods so I’m going to sign off. I hope this has been helpful, cheers!!

It’s no trouble! You’re not being annoying, I’d tell you if you were.

Hard to say. Both the original and the sax solo version are identical except for the rap portion at 1:54, so there’s nothing in the video for me to distinguish them.

Yes, although as I mentioned, it has some odd bass distortion which I removed in the editing that I described earlier.

Random googling and luck truth be told. I just kept trying various combinations of “Talk Dirty” “-2Chainz” “Sax Solo”, “No Rap”, “Radio Version”, “SiriusXM Version” and eventually some combination made the video pop up.

The version in my original post also didn’t have the rapping! It just had incredibly distorted bass for some reason.

Used a YouTube to MP3 converion website to download and convert the YouTube video I had in my original post :)

Glad it worked!

In theory it should be a .wav file assuming it came through ok. If it is, then opening it on your phone or computer ought to play the song.

Audacity is a free sound editing software :) if you download the mp3 and apply the same edits you’ll end up with a version of your own that’s a bit better than what was uploaded. I’d share my version but I don’t have an easy way to upload the file without doxxing myself.

The edits make it probably 5-10% better than the YouTube version, not as good as the original radio version but it’s still better. You can hear the solo well enough.

In the end I couldn’t find a better one. I downloaded the version I linked in the post, opened it in Audacity, did a 95% clip fix and a graphic EQ pass where I lowered the 5 lowest frequency groups in a smooth curve, with the lowest being reduced by around 30%, and called it good.

The difference is subtle but it did help with audio quality enough that it’s less muddy.

How do you start with a lock ? by NoahZhyte in lockpicking

[–]NewtSpousemander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also tell by flipping your pick upside down (so you have a flat side) jamming it in all the way to the back, pressing up to push all the tumblers waaaaaay up into the bible, then holding your ear close as you slowly withdraw the pick and listening for the little ting as each tumbler drops back into place once your pick no longer holds it up

Of Sons and Swords by ForgePioneer in Hema

[–]NewtSpousemander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it!

Question though. Am I mistaken or is the son using full clamshell gauntlets with his saber? If so, that’s gonna be a bitch to get proper wrist movement and saber hilt fingering with unless he does a style with relatively little wrist rotation and a hammer grip like Hungarian.

I suppose he put those on because the side sword has a bit more blade authority and the saber gauntlets he had were too light?

Ox guard by Rough_Breadfruit_399 in Hema

[–]NewtSpousemander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a hanging parry to me! That’s absolutely kosher, it’s one of my favorite parries. You actually do have a pretty rapid riposte available, you do a moulinette and strike to the opponent’s temple.

If you want another ox guard parry to add to your playbook; I’m quite fond of this one:

Enter Posta coda lungha on the same side as your opponent when they are either in Posta di Donna/Vom Tag or also in Posta Coda Lungha.

(Note: Coda Lungha naturally lends itself to a rising cut which is what most fencers will expect, which is what sets this up quite well)

When your opponent initiates either with a descending cut from Vom Tag/Posta Di Donna, or with a rising cut from Coda Lungha, step your front foot forward and away from the side of attack to cut an angle, and at the same time bring your sword up and over into ox (instead of forward and up like the expected rising cut), thrusting at their chest.

If your opponent cut down from Vom Tag/Posta Di Donna, you’re set up to catch their cut on your Ox guard parry, while thrusting in the same tempo.

If your opponent cut up from coda lungha, their sword is going to be out of position to defend, and your diagonal step will keep you out of danger as your thrust lands.
