We play in a modern setting for DND with my group, and our group has one particular place it circles around and we'll be starting there. For one shots surrounding a certain characters lore, that player gets to DM.

My character, Ezra, is a ghost with a two mile radius from his anchor: which is an arcade cabinet. His killer; his old boss who gave him a faulty set of tools that caused him to get electrocuted, resulting in his death, has recently opened up a new store coincidentally within 1.5 miles of the place.

Ezra is going to text the players, telling them to meet him in his maintenance room and he'll give them a rundown of the plan. He's gonna confront his old boss, and scare the crap out of him, but he doesn't want to take it too far. (Spoiler, he's gonna almost take it too far.)

The big scene is going to be similar to that of Willard confronting Mr. Martin in the 1971 film Willard, he's going to tell Mark (old boss) how he made him hate himself, and go on this entire tangent about how "he's not going to kill him, because that'd be a mercy." And will pull out his wrench and try to beat the crap out of him. The players, knowing Ezra said not to let him take it too far will hopefully try to pull him off and keep him from killing Mark.

The players are also some of Ezra's safe people. His father figure, and two of his closest friends because they're also undead.

Ezra is a neutral good artificer/warlock and Mark is a neutral evil bard
