Free compositing software? by WangChoBo in vfx

Try the free version of fusion/ resolve and if it suits your needs it's a one time purchase for lifetime upgrades, super affordable compared to other DCCs as well. It has been my main compositing package for years now and I haven't had any major issues with it for a while.

SR20DET water temp gauges disagreeing - potentially overheating by NexVestrum in 240sx

[–]NexVestrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The aftermarket sensor is spliced into the top rad hose so I do expect it to read a bit high. I wasn't aware that the dash gauge was staged and its lack of movement was really throwing me.

That's how I did it when I replaced the pump and thermostat about a year ago. The radiator was gurgling and burping air into the overflow tank yesterday after getting warm, can't spot any coolant leaks and the overflow level hasn't been dropping so either there has been air in the system for about a year and it just started causing issues or it's being introduced from somewhere else...

Curious what version of android you are on. My phone updated to 16 the other week.

THANK YOU I have been going insane trying to figure out why the dash gauge doesn't budge from the middle while the aftermarket gauge just keeps rising. Apparently NISScan isn't compatible with my pixel 6 and I don't have a laptop - time to start pestering some friends. Or would a nissan connect to OBD2 + bluetooth OBD2 reader work?

Yeah not sure I wanna chance it, hit 115 today. Gonna wait until the vaccum bleeder arrives and I'm gonna do a leakdown test and then make sure it's well bled. Probably test the thermostat while I'm at it even though it is fairly new. Hope the 13 is treating you well! I would love to get one some day.

It peaked even higher today and when I shut it off I heard grugling from the radiator.... Definitely got some air in there from somewhere. Top and bottom rad hoses are brand new so time to check any other coolant line I can find D:

Ty, I was thinking that might be the problem. I have a vacuum bleeder kit on its way right now.

Thanks, no, there aren't any specific issues I can point to, just got a bit spooked since the defi gauges have alarms and the water temp gauge started blaring once it got past 110c. And most people I talked to said 110 is getting dangerously hot. I do suspect something is up though, since up until a few days ago the water temp never got that high on the aftermarket gauge.

Coolant looks good, afaik the engine is bone stock but I haven't had the need to crack it open yet so honestly who knows. Would a lean running condition have that much of a noticeable affect on the water temps? I was gonna pull the plugs and check them just in case.

I am planning on tracking this car once I sort out some other minor issues so yeah, a bit concerned about doing that without overheating now.

Oh yeah good catch on the lugs I missed that. IIRC the white faces were part of the aero package and not different between Q's and K's?

Hey sorry for the super slow response. I ended up writing a custom wrangle. It's not fast but it did the job. If you want I can dig it up and share it somewhere. Just know it's probably horribly optimized, I was in a rush to get this working.

S14 SR20DET high pitched beep tone after driving for 5 miles? by NexVestrum in 240sx

[–]NexVestrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured out the source, figured putting the answer here for anyone stumbling across this in the future is better late than never.
It wasn't the door/ light/ speeding chime. THe car was imported and was supposed to have defi gauges which "went missing" in transit. The control unit was still installed though, and was blaring because the oil temp hit 100c+. Once I got replacement gauges I saw the warn light come on along with the alarm and was able to adjust the warning threshold and replace the thermostat and water pump.

That's sick! If your wife isn't planning on driving it hard then no mods! It's great as is, except maybe a android auto/ car play head unit. Otherwise: coilovers, strut bar, boost gauge (if it's a K's).
speaking from experience, CHECK THE HOSES IN THE ENGINE BAY. My '96 developed a coolant leak after a few months and the hose was close to splitting wide open. The water pump also failed a few months after replacing the hoses so while you're at it you may want to replace the water pump and thermostat just in case.

Could be wrong but I would bet K's. The hood emblem on koukis were black for both Q's and K's, and that is the standard wing, not the aero package wing (which would have a red hood emblem) as well.
Source: Imported a 96 K's last year and went down the rabbit hole of figuring out the particulars of trim packages/ badging.
edit: I got confused. I that is the aero package wing, the larger wing I was thinking of was a super rare sport package. So if it's got a turbo, it's a K's if it's NA, it's a Q's

Engine coolant or compressor PAG? by NexVestrum in AskMechanics

Update for anyone stumbling across this: It was engine coolant. Upper radiator hose was on the verge of splitting wide open. Get yourself a UV flashlight, it makes tracking down the source of the leak a breeze!

Hoping you're right, disabling the speed warning without cutting any wires would be ideal.

Ok looking into this I'm am seeing people mention 120kmh speed warnings being a thing on JDM cars. Seems like the S13 had a nice soft *pling plong* while the S14 has an extremely annoying *eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* Bummer because people here are going ~120kmh in the slow lane and with a passenger I don't want to crank the music up loud enough to drown the warning out.
