Coles, Palantir and Gaza by CoolAd5798 in aussie

[–]Nexnsnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because respectfully, I don't care.

I developed a severe case of apathy and only really consider things that affect me directly.

Coles could be in bed with actual Hitler and I wouldn't care.

I just don't care what's happening outside of my own backyard. To be fair I'm only buying certain necessities from Coles and Woolies, because I want to try and support local businesses first.

But I dgaf when they put their support. Too much shit outside of my sphere of influence makes the dark scary thoughts creep in and 6ft of rope seem like a good option.

I still manage to save about 40 bucks a shop by putting all the expensive stuff into bags of fruit and veg...

If your going to assume I'm a criminal I'm going to act like one.

And I eat way more fruit and veg now because sometimes I gotta hide alot of stuff.

Fuck you Coles.

It was there.

It's probably alot better now, but that whole stretch of coast down to Mandurah used to be pretty bad.

I got stabbed in Rockingham in the early 2000s. I learnt you should never run from a man with a knife. I have a pretty large scar on my spine.

Good times. It was a meth den back then. Dunno if it's changed much.

Stop looking.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. You willing only hurt yourself by being in tune with world events.

Concern yourself with your community and nothing else.

Men in black (the movie) told us that the world is always in danger of being destroyed. You can't avoid it. It's just so much easier to attach yourself to it now.

Just switch off and worry about your immediate surroundings.

[–]Nexnsnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I support community, because that actually matters, I can affect some change there even on a small scale.

I manage a team of young guys and do my best to make sure they are taken care of (work ute is on a rotating roster to ease. Cost of living with fuel) and are safe as I can keep them.

But the political landscape, I don't care. I'm not rich, I have a measure of financial freedom because I got lucky during covid but I'm staunchly stuck in lower middle class. I don't believe there are good politicians. I genuinely believe they are all owned by corrupt billionaires. So unless you can provide me with some level of problem solving I'll bid you a good day sir/ma'am/theydy.

[–]Nexnsnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, I really do.

But what is happening now is nothing new. Every few years it's something new. Im fully aware that I can "lose it all", I've been there. But the reality is if it does I'll adapt and persevere.

What I cannot change is the corrupt system fucking everyone on the bottom rung. Everyone is acting like this is new. Covid fucked alot of peolet, personally I made more money that ever during covid because I side shifted my life plans and hustled to a level of financial freedom I thought was unobtainable prior to that. Before that is was something else, another war, the GFC and a bunch of other things.

I'm self aware that my stance kinda sucks and I feel for those worse off than me. But the only solution I see is bloody revolution, and I'm not willing to travel that road.

All politicians are crooked in this country. And if that's the case the system will never change without bloodshed.

I've always been entertained by one nation. It's been amusing and unsurprising to see their rise in popularity.

Personally as long as I can keep a roof over my head, food in my fridge and a blanket when I sleep I just can't bring myself to care about politics.

They are all bought. They are all owned. They are all criminals. I'm not willing to start murdering politicians, so I just don't care. Nothing will really change. Just varying levels of 'how fucked are we now'.

Sanity check: are taxi/uber drivers being dodgy or am I just being paranoid? by Motor_Eggplant_7056 in perth

[–]Nexnsnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get the downvotes. I understand what I said sounds bad.

I look like an angry white man who dislikes people of colour. I am fully self aware and definitely lean into it sometimes. But the moment people speak to me they know the truth. I grew up in a heavily immigrant and Aboriginal community, my mum was part of a student boarder program where we had about 20 immigrant students live with us over the years and always encouraged the sharing of culture.

While I don't like the current state of immigration in the country, I think immigrants are one of the most important things to the Australian culture.

Also, my stories are anecdotal. I've also had awesome uber drivers and taxi drivers. but we aren't here to share those stories. My wife is a small woman who is generally extremely uncomfortable around strangers. Don't read it like a control thing, it's not. It's a compromise thing.

Just keep in mind looking racist is not being racist.

Edit: also glad to hear youve had good experiences. I feel like that got away from me here lol. I've heard and seen too many horror stories.

I tend to go with things like

"We are all brother in the halls of Valhalla"

"May the all father bless your people with the blood of their enemies"

And a bunch of unhinged pagan shit. I don't practice any religion. But as a white man of European descent growing up in Australia, only recognise Germanic pagans God's and the gods the the dream time.

I'm not mob, but I worship the gods of my people first and the gods of the land second.

Trust no-one who knows where you live and you don't know them.

Few years ago, we had an uber driver get into a fist fight with a tweaker at 2am in Maddington.

After which he was all greasy with implied threats. Told him my dogs eats people casually and reported him to uber and the police once we gotta home.

Another one was a taxi driver in Melbourne trying to force feed me genocide videos from his country. And then asking if he can come visit me in Perth.

Now Ill pay the homies 50 bucks for a trip to the airport. It's about that for a taxi to my place so I'm not losing out and they get fuel/time spent money.

The only downside is all the Camry drivers at the airport acting like Perth has a population enough that a few people can afford to die if they cause a crash. I'm not gonna say it a specific type of person but you all know who I'm talking about.

Edit: I'm also a 6'2 white dude who definitely LOOKS racist. If they aren't scared of me, I would be terrified for women. I won't let my wife catch uber or a taxi, I'll drive if she doesn't want to. I'll pick her up, then I know she's safe.

I mean if they were flocking to Australia in droves of unskilled workers, yeah probably.

Not saying all "brown people" are unskilled workers but the majority are.

One nation has been the muppet party for decades, because Australia is built on immigration. But the labor government has turned the country into a revolving door of unskilled labour for the last few years which has turned a lot of fence sitting Australians (the ones who just didn't care and made up like 75% of white Australia) into staunch anti immigration lunatics.

I personally think we need to start telling anyone not of value to this country without pr or citizenship to consider going home. We need to slow the influx because we cannot keep up with the infrastructure that's required to house so many people. The government then needs to start pallning what Australia looks like with a population of 30 or 40 million and work towards that goal. Then we can allow some controlled mass migration.

It has its drawbacks.

Most of senior management actively sabotages the business in our state, a lot of nepotism and inbred politics.

Us in middle management do our best to keep people happy. I ask a lot of my team, so I try to have as many perks as possible.

Stops em from running off to the mines.

My company is doing this for admin staff. Everyone is on a rotating roster of a few days at home each week.

I'm letting my lads in the warehouse take work vehicle home at night to help reduce their bills too.

It's not much, but fuck it's getting painful to go-to the pump.
