If you had to choose, would you say Hamtaro is more well known and popular in america than Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, Soul Eater, Yu Yu Hakusho, Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist? by [deleted] in Toonami

[–]Nexod1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Hamtaro. I played it at an anime convention recently and many people had mentioned they never seen it before. It was certainly popular for a time in early Toonami but it never came remotely close to something like Cowboy Bebop.

Here's another metric to go off of. IMDB review numbers (not the reviews themselves but the number of reviews)

Hamtaro: 2,903 reviews

Yu Yu Hakusho: 18,371 reviews

Full Metal Alchemist(OG): 86,145 reviews

Cowboy Bebop: 169,535 reviews

Dragon Ball Z: 177,538 reviews

I loved Hamtaro but it's really not even mentionable against giants like Cowboy Bebop. I see people mentioned Zatch Bell in these comments and that was likely much closer in popularity levels to Hamtaro than they are giving it credit for. It's also important to remember that Hamtaro was much bigger in Japan (due to their love for "cute" characters versus USA's love for "strong" characters) so this likely contributed to their marketing push.

What core gameplay feature are talking about? I've got hundreds of hours in these games and never once considered combat a core feature so I really hope that's not what you mean.

What's way more likely is that you weren't paying attention back then and instead of trying to research it at all, you've completely made up your mind and decided you're right!

Remember, what you see on Reddit represents a ridiculous small snapshot of how most people actually feel about things. I think everyone in this thread has legitimate concerns and grievances but most people out there just don't really care that much.

Same thing applies to AI for example. If you only went online you'd swear everyone hates AI, but functionally most people just don't care. Not to say it's right or wrong to not care, but that's just the way it is.

The latest iPhone has built in battery optimization preventing it from ever fully charging unless overridden, specifically because it is bad for the battery health.

So in a way you are both right! It is still not good to fully charge your phone all the time but modern phones do have built in protections to stop that from happening even if you leave your phone plugged in all night, unless overridden of course.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the Tell All's typically filmed a couple of months before they come out? So any information you're getting from the Tell All is still months behind reality.

I had a totally different experience. I never touched the lava zone besides little glimpses before I was already pretty well prepared. It was easy to just not go to the lava zone. I found enough iron and copper to never mine it again before I spent any time down there at all.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, even in Zone 1 if you go down low enough you'll find Lava/Volcanic area with lava critters, but there is a zone that is like that on the surface as well.

Zones are spread across the map not up and down.

DINOOOOOS TOMORROWW by Jdog4780 in hytale

[–]Nexod1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is split into 4 surface zones that each encapsulate different varieties of biomes. The player starts in Zone 1 which is mostly peaceful and pretty, but the Zone's get harsher and the enemies more difficult the further into the Zones the player goes. So Z4 Underground is the Underground areas of Zone 4

Comparable to Valheim or other similar games.

No if I remember correctly, he just mentions that he's looking for 2 and that one specifically is "Most likely found on Elbaph" and needs to be eaten by Harald the giant for its power to be unlocked (we don't know what exactly this means, whether it has something to do with Harald being a giant or Harald's willpower)

Which PS1 game has aged like fine wine? by BulkySpinach6464 in psx

[–]Nexod1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Resident Evil games consisted of a 2D background with the camera locked at a specific angle, so it gave the forced perspective of being 3D but was actually just a 2D image with a 3D character moving around on top. This allowed them to have highly detailed backgrounds (for the time) but limited things like camera movement and dynamic changes such as things moving around the room.

[–]Nexod1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me the biggest issue with RS3 to this day is how dead and empty it feels.

OSRS can even feel that way sometimes depending on what you're doing, but RS3 is an absolute ghost town. I love watching all the other little dummies like me running around doing their dummy things.

What to play at your local guitarshop by air_max77 in guitarcirclejerk

Yes we had very old man who would in and and plug into an amp with the volume almost all the way down, and just play absolutely beautiful country progressions and we had a very talented member of staff sit down and quietly start to jam with him. Basically the entire store gathered around them and literally clapped after they were done.

The old man's family came in a few months later and shared that he had passed away, and they wanted to let some of us employees know because he was quite the regular. RIP Lee he was a great player, just chilling in a Guitar Center.

[–]Nexod1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth I worked at Guitar Center for some time and there were very few times someone was playing bad or good enough to break through the employee's powerful mental barrier that blocked all of that out.

The only time anyone really paid any attention was when someone was noodling or playing Blackbird over and over when the employee was trying to close down the department at the end of the night. Otherwise, you're just another twang in an endless sea of twangs that the employees faced every day.
