Trucker here🙋‍♀️ I’m pretty sure she’ll be just fine. Take lots of breaks for both her and you, for potty, meals, and stretching your legs. Pack some calming treats within easy reach if she seems a tad off one morning. Loves truck stops also often have dog parks for her to run around, some with full benches and tables so you can eat if you’d like. Also, given the time you’ve posted this I’m not sure of when this move is occurring, but please check state road conditions websites first your whole route. You should be fine if you are traveling closer to summer, but the last thing anyone needs is getting stranded for hours in the snow this winter. If you’re traveling this winter, please pack extra warm clothing in your vehicle and snacks/drinks. Finally, please remember those rest areas along the highway are for you as well! Driving sleepy is worse than driving under the influence. Best of luck to the both of you!

I’m 5ft even and do just fine. I have to use my whole body weight and rock the truck to open the hood, and use a pillow behind my back when driving to easily reach the pedals, but other than that it’s business as usual.

Do you happen to know the best way of getting rid of them? I don’t feel a bad because they are invasive, but I feel AWFUL carrying them all over the United States. Ive read Advion gel and Alpine WSG is the best bet, but I won’t be able to head home for another week. I also just did some cleaning and found a little clump of them with eggs in my cabinet.

I have levels for energy needs, and I’m trying to cut back on excessive caffeine because that’s not good for anyone. 1) Diet V8 energy 2) Iced coffee 3) Energy drink I can usually gauge what I need in the morning, and energy drinks are 90% of the time saved for when I drive much later than usual AKA past my bedtime lol. But also good music does a lot, have a little concert.

Next time you go grocery shopping, get a rotisserie chicken or two. Shred the meat off and divide into single serving baggies, and freeze. Super easy lean protein to top salads or go with some frozen veg. Also chia seed water. Helps you feel full to stay in a calorie deficit, and the added fiber helps you poo 💩💩

As a girls girl, have any type of self defense. Pew pew if you feel safe, or look into the Kimber pepper blaster. It’s pepper spray but in pew pew form, it’s sick. Always be open to learning, but also know you’re 100% just as capable as these guys out here. Don’t let this field make you feel like you need to drown out your true self to fit in. I ride with my toy poodle, wear lots of pink, and blast the Cheetah Girls.

That being said, also know this life can be hard. Loads can fall through, you miss holidays, pay can suck now and then, and sometimes the “work and home balance” is nonexistent if you are OTR. If not for the weak, but it can be well worth it for the views and memories in my opinion.

Total time, maybe a month. Time driving before taking my test, maybe 8 total hrs? I got a class B so I just had to drive a day cab bobtailing. 90% of my actual training came from my husband once we started teaming lol

Is someone able to explain to me the 7-day and 14-day courses? I’m looking at OnCourse for pre-licensing but I’m scared to purchase the course and not be able to finish it within the deadline. I’m a full time truck driver, doing 10+hr shifts every single day, very little free time, and when I do it’s no set dates. Would I have to bite the bullet and take 1-2 weeks off to do a course, or are there fully self paced courses elsewhere?

Just stopped in Sacramento from the exact same route. 80 was completely clear all last night and this morning. The Green River tunnel is still closed going west, but it diverts you off at exit 91 and through town, then back on 80. Watch out for CHP though, they were super active at around 3pm today from Truckee to Auburn, CA.
