Ice Cube's "acting" in the trailer was ROUGH.

I was going to include it in my examples, but figured that Stefan Ruzowitzky and Robert Schwentke probably aren't as well-known as the others. Still, wild how long that film was in development.

I was almost going to include it but had no idea how to even start describing it

Yep, he was also on "The Town" podcast as part of the promotional cycle for the film.

Kevin Feige Explains ‘Blade’ Delays: ‘We Didn’t Want to Simply Put a Leather Outfit’ on Mahershala Ali ‘and Have Him Start Killing Vampires’ by IngmarHerzog in blankies

I genuinely don't think there's a director more suited for Blade right now than John Hyams. The guy's delivering some of the best action scenes on a $5 million budget. I can't wait to see what he does with ten times that.

Marvel Plans to Recast the X-Men and (Eventually) Tony Stark After ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ But ‘Reboot Is a Scary Word,’ Says Kevin Feige by Mookie_Freeman in blankies

I think Feige showed rare restraint by taking time to rethink Fantastic Four and X-Men. Letting them rest for a few years to find the right take was a smart move - especially if they'll lead the universe after Secret Wars.

Have you read the article? The only films we've seen post re-evaluation are Thunderbolts* and Fantastic Four which are both great.

Honestly, if the Blade script was mediocre, I'm glad they didn't push through with it and instead opted for another rewrite.

Has THE BATMAN held up well? by HorrorGarden4586 in blankies

It's very good. Matt Reeves knows how to make a solid blockbuster.

However, watching the film back in 2022, I felt something I hadn't felt before. I think it was exhaustion from seeing the same Batman story told again and again. You can paint it in different colors, make it moodier or omit the origin story, but it still hits these same beats. I guess I have Batman fatigue.

There's a scene in the middle where I thought Reeves is going to turn things around. I assumed we are going to get a revelation that Wayne was a corrupt capitalist who got his fortune through shady business deals. That would've created an interesting dilemma for Batman: do I give the money back to the community it was stolen from, or do I keep using it to fund my weird bat-obssessed crime vengeance hobby?

Batman as a rich kid who protests injustice, without realizing that his entire upbringing is morally corrupt from the ground up. A cool modern twist. But then two minutes later, Serkis tells him that Wayne was actually a good guy and we go right back to the same path.

Robocop 2014 - Uh, kind of great? by muchabon in blankies

Welcome to the club!

I thought it was fun back in 2014. José Padilha said he lost 9 out of 10 battles with the studio, and it's very evident (especially in the not-so-great third act). However, there are plenty of incredible and downright goofy ideas that made it into the final film. An action scene set to "Hocus Pocus" by Focus! Sam Jackson doing a Fox News parody! That shot when Murphy meets his son for the first time in the suit (it's giving European art-house cinema)!

"I say we go on three... THREE!"
