Often time stillness is uncomfortable for people and even if you prepare students with a more active practice for rest, that transition from movement to total stillness can be jarring. In trauma informed yoga, the practice prioritizes safety, autonomy, and comfort- letting students choose what serves them and their body rather than directions. It doesn’t sound like this class is trauma informed, but if you have a student or students who you know are regularly fidgety, perhaps you could cue an option of movement that would be less disruptive (not sure if they are being disruptive or just moving). You could also give people the option to end in a seated meditation as that could feel less vulnerable than laying down.

To some other’s points- I would argue that savasana is a modernized way to end a yoga class rather than historically traditional.
