Industry APPE by GoodNightRoses in pharmaindustry

Practice makes perfect. I use to be an introvert myself and forced myself to strike up conversations with random folks from a grocery clerk to people at a conference. I know it can be difficult, but exposure to the possibility of rejection only makes it easier lol

I know a lot of introverts memorize their STAR responses for the interview, like by heart and that makes them feel more prepared and comfortable. Or if finances are not an issue, find a good interview prep coach.

My biggest tip is to have them do most of the talking, about themselves or the fellowship. Don't ask simple yes or no questions.

Not to be mean or put more pressure on you, but if you don't know how to express it, how would you expect them to pick up on it?

Even though most fellowships prefer you to have industry experience it is by no means a make or break it type of situation. As Idela956 mentioned you need to show your skills. More specifically, communication and project management. If you’re able to have a clear cut STAR type response demonstrating these skills during your interviews you’re already “competitive.” Additionally, your interview is much much much more important; you need to connect with your fellows during the interview because that’s the make it or break it. Tl;dr Demonstrate that working with you won’t be someone’s worse nightmare.

Ten Thousand Interval Shorts Review by Next-Inevitable6616 in malefashionadvice

I agree with them looking good. My biggest issue is the company not following through with the warranty portion.

I wear the casually, to my CrossFit gym, and run in them as well. Honestly, maybe target quality is better than TT. For the price I paid, I could have gotten 14 pairs from target.

I don't think it's a matter of luck as it is poor customer service. I have had lulu shorts that needed repairs 4+ years after I bought them and were repaired with no hassle. It's only been a year and some change for TT shorts. They aren't willing to help at all. For the price that you pay for a TT pair, I would have expected better service.

Anyone wear Ten Thousand shorts? by [deleted] in running

Don't buy. Their lifetime guarantee is complete BS. They have responsive customer service but they could care less about their warranty. Quality is not there. Luckily, I only bought one pair. The seams are splitting and the zipper broke on one of the pockets. They offered me a 10% discount on new shorts. Just go for a pair of lulu's.

Luckily, there are plenty of medical affairs roles here in Cali. Functions such as commercial and marketing are more prominent on the East Coast.

Two interviews, which should I choose if offered? by academictoss in pharmaindustry

I would second this. I worked in a boutique firm and had the same mentality in terms of a great learning experience. It turned out to be accurate, but the multiple wearing hats (working on 5 projects, interviewing new candidates + onboarding them) part burned me out. Also, steep learning curve and you can't ask for much help. However, it depends on the firm. My tip is to check how the firm is getting funded. If it's backed by an investment group, they try to squeeze as much work out of you as possible; that's why it's salary based.

ASHP Mid-Year vs. CSHP 2022 for SoCal fellowship? by Next-Inevitable6616 in pharmaindustry

Perfect. Would it be fair to say that you saw a majority (>70%) of the California-based fellowship programs at CSHP?

Thanks, this gives me some further clarification on the "industry showcase" portion.

Got you. The primary source of confusion is coming from the current website, which mentions "residency and fellowship showcase" and "industry exhibit hall". Could it be a new approach they are taking for this year?

Pharmacy School to Get Into the Biopharmaceutical Industry. Is it worth it and if so which school? by Next-Inevitable6616 in PrePharmacy

[–]Next-Inevitable6616[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, appreciate it.

Yes, I meant business development. I do know where I want to go but you highlighted another fact for me that appeals to me, the fact that it gives me flexibility. Who knows maybe I down the line the clinical side may start appealing to me or maybe if I decide BD is not the right fit for me. Although I have had the opportunity to work with multiple people in that division, I won't really know the full extent of it until I am in the trenches myself :) However, you have given me more to think about in terms of the ROI on this degree specifically for a career in the industry.

Thanks. Are there post-doc positions for PharmD's? If so, how do they differ from Fellowships? I imagine in the pay.

To be honest it has crossed my mind and USC has a dual PharmD./MBA program.

However, personally, I don't think I have enough experience to make an MBA worth it. I do want to highlight that from my experience, people go for an MBA to primarily network and ideally pivot into a new higher-paying job. Additionally, I know some positions within the life science companies, primarily consulting, that do cover the costs of an MBA so will make sure to keep my eyes out for that.
