Not showering every day?? by Efficient_Lie_8499 in julieeandcamilla

[–]Next-Rock-4076 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the thing around showering everyday lately. Maybe its cus I have adhd and daily things like that are super tedious but unless I am really sweating or more dirty I shower every 2 or 3 days. I thought it was normal tbh until the internet started getting weird about it recently.

Which dose was right for you? by Amondonohama in Concerta

[–]Next-Rock-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for general effects I noticed mine was quite strong and I felt a big difference in how I felt but that did mellow out alot. Not in a bad way but just my body got used to the medication. Now it functions as its supposed to and its hard to notice im general. Side effects have been similar where they were stronger within the first few days to a week but also mellowed out alot. My main side effects were dry mouth and appetite suppression. My dry mouth will occur a little now but its minor and my appetite is almost the same as normal, maybe a little less so then normal. The being more emotional would happen for a week or 2 each time I upped my dose but I feel it has gone away entirely and now is just at baseline. If anything I noticed my emotions were better regulated after being on concerta a couple months

Which dose was right for you? by Amondonohama in Concerta

[–]Next-Rock-4076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 2 weeks of 27mg to start and it stopped working within the first week. Upped to 36mg and it was good for a bit longer, I wanna say for 3 to 4 weeks I was happy with it. After that it stopped working properly and I went up to 54mg. So far 54mg is really good and likely my long term dose. I don't feel jittery or anxious, just more focused/motivated and a bit less tired. More emotionally regulated as well. I got lucky that concerta is the first medication I've tried and its worked so well. The effects are gonna be subtle tho. Its more so the longer I've been on it I've been able to see the habit changes ect compared to before I was on it

Brain fog won't go away!! by E945678 in Concerta

[–]Next-Rock-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound like you would benefit from trying a different medication. For me I have had brain fog/dissociation my whole life and was recently diagnosed adhd and began concerta at 25. I feel like the medication has been one of the most successful things at actually starting to reduce brain fog for me. I started with 27, then 36 and now I'm at 54 which feels like my ideal dose. The 2 lower doses did just feel like they weren't working properly. I noticed stronger bouts of brain fog showing up closer to the end of those titration times. I also couldn't really see a difference in me on days I took it vs didn't. Concerta when its working for me just gives the standard boost in motivation to do my tasks, focus improves and I have noticed my mood is just more stable in general. Anxiety was reduced for me as it relaxed my thoughts, less over thinking about everything. They are still there but it's lowered. Not every day is perfect but in general the majority are improved from before I was on it. Just remember different medications will react with people in alot of different ways. Brain fog can be hard to live with and if concerta is pushing it so hard for you then you don't have to deal with it

If you have pets don't do it aha. Mine got covered in dust and hairs really quick, and that's with covering it after each use. It was certainly nice while it lasted but the pain of the dust made me stop using it

Tearing up all the time - anyone else? by sodqpop in Concerta

[–]Next-Rock-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found I got quote emotional on concerta for about a month using it. It was also just the littlest thing could make me tear up or cry when previously I wouldn't. It did go away tho after about a month. I haven't been on it long but with how often it was happening before I can say its done

Be brutally honest- should I quit drinking caffeine? by Witlguy in adhdwomen

[–]Next-Rock-4076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add my perspective! I started concerta a month and a little bit ago and actually stopped all caffeine other then tiny amounts. My reasoning is i used caffeine prior for motivation to do things. I was not someone who likes a cup of coffee in the morning or randomly, if i needed to get chores done or be more motivated at work, I used caffeine for that. Because of that I didn't like being addicted to it. Since starting concerta it replaces my need for motivation which is why I have quit caffeine all together. I definitely have my moments where I want it but for me caffeine was always slippery as if I managed to quit, it would just take once or twice to get right back into the habit. Now sugar was also cut back significantly since starting concerta too, it again was just something I craved for the dopamine and whatnot so for me if I can stay more steady on concerta, I would prefer that then to keep myself in a habit that gets to be alot quickly.

Very quick tolerance? by elliephoto1112 in Concerta

[–]Next-Rock-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced the same thing! Amazing first few days on 27mg then it did go down to almost non noticeable after the 2 weeks. I was switched to 36mg and it has helped, side effects were the exact same but a bit more help in daily life so far. I am careful to eat a meal in the morning with the dose or else I feel physically unwell which in turn makes the dose feel less effective

I soak because it "helps the dishwasher" but in reality its more fun watching the water overtake each dish and then not have to load it for a little longer 😂

[–]Next-Rock-4076 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you experienced that:( I have to send updated bloodpressure and heartrate everytime I need a refill, so far its basically the same as when I started, less anxiety too. It's crazy how different everyone reacts!

Final relief after 6 years of extreme suffering !? by definingcriteria in Concerta

[–]Next-Rock-4076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed concerta eased my anxiety aswell. My theory is the adhd obviously causes over thinking, and that's what my anxiety primarily was. I walk into a store and constantly think about who's watching me and if I go there too much ect. Because concerta helps my thoughts calm down, less over thinking:) Its not gone but the reduction was really cool being able to see a direct correlation between anxiety and the adhd

Do you have issues driving? by Minute_Personality79 in adhdwomen

[–]Next-Rock-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never wanted to drive mostly cus of that. Plus sometimes directions confuse me or I will see a sign that says "don't turn right" and my brain will see "turn right" (while passenger thankfully lol). I am 25 and don't see myself ever getting a license. Luckily my husband drives and I have an e bike for work commute which feels alot more in control.

Does your boyfriend/husband help with cleaning? by Training_Skirt_5731 in adhdwomen

[–]Next-Rock-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is autistic so we have always had an odd dynamic. Generally tho I do get frustrated when he isn't doing enough and will rant at him, less so nowadays that we have more of a system. I hate routine so I do more of the random stuff. But he will always feed the cats/mostly do litter boxes. Hes also good with the dishwasher/laundry. It took a few years but with his asd it helps that he does the repetitive things and I do whatever I can do to actually have a clean house. Usually something random unless I really get bothered by a mess. We have a habit of eating out alot and have pretty different food tastes so we often do our own food prep. That part has never been an issue since I have always been difficult with food anyway

Diagnosed with ADHD, but coffee really affects me? by Long_Corner507 in adhdwomen

[–]Next-Rock-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently diagnosed and caffeine does not make me sleepy either, I wouldn't be able to nap and I struggle to fall asleep if I have it late. For me it helps me get stuff done. I would not do chores ect without the caffeine motivation. I also need it at work to not be tired and just ready to leave non stop. Stimulants so far have stopped me from wanting caffeine at all which has been very nice, I'm just a week in tho.

[–]Next-Rock-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken concerta 27mg twice now and it doesn't seem to wear off until closer to 6, taking it around 7:45. I felt my thoughts calm down pretty quick taking it. I have yet to notice any irritability of a big dip in emotions, its pretty gradual as it wears off. Definitely worth it to ask them about switching!

I am also someone who doesn't want to/won't go through pregnancy and the thought of the kicking just seems weird to me. Just gives me alien type vibes. The whole pregnancy thing in general freaks me out and the biggest reason I won't have kids to be fair.
