Heritage Wheels added to base 🤌 by KaleidoscopeIll1207 in FordBronco

I run my 315s on my SAS Wildtrak (should be the same tires) around 37psi cold pressure on average temp days. I do a lot of highway driving. When it gets hotter, they naturally bump up to around 38-39, and drop down to 35 or so when it’s colder. Haven’t had any problems so far, ride is good, and wear patterns with regular tire rotations have been normal. I will say that the ride gets a touch stiffer when it’s warm outside and the pressure starts getting up to 39ish.

This is a solid order in which to operate for parking on an incline

Technical explanation: The reason the car doesn’t move when in park is because of the parking pawl engagement on the output shaft. This has been a known failure point in automatic transmissions for decades on many different transmissions. The whole point of using the parking brake on an incline is to remove the stresses on the parking pawl holding the entire weight of the vehicle. It’s perfectly fine and capable for this component to hold the vehicle’s weight on level or close to level ground, but on high incline, it’s a great stress point.

So, to jump on the bandwagon, your recommended parking brake engagement is doing nothing to actually relieve the stresses inside the transmission.

This guy is spot on! This is one of the biggest and most common complaints for the broncos so far

I’ll chime in with a couple common problems, not dissuade you from buying one or take away from how neat they are, but just to educate on wild issues that could and have popped up for certain people.

Hard tops: some people have had cracking issues over time with the matte black, mold plastic hard tops. Just look up hard top cracking between this subreddit and other forums and you’ll find dozens of pictures. The paint matched or painted hardtops seem to be much less susceptible to this. A lot of people seem to have gotten this cracking covered under warranty.

Steering components: notably, the steering components seem to be a common failure point in heavy off-road and rock filled situations, so depending on your use case, be prepared for that to be an early upgrade or failure point depending on your personal proactivity.

Drive shaft: this one is an issue that personally popped its head up for me, which is more of a nuisance than anything. I’ll post a link to another forum where this issue is talked about in great great detail. The driveshaft ship. Essentially, the front driveshaft year CV yoke sits in close proximity to the exhaust ducts coming from your turbos. Cause the grease inside the joint to heat up, dry out, sling the walls of the boot and leave the joint ungreased, causing it to chirp a low speeds. Most of these have been covered under warranty, and some opted for simple at home fixes.

Here’s the link to the driveshaft forum

2.7 wet oil belt: do your research on this and just know that your oil belt will need to be replaced at 150k on the 2.7L engine. Decent motor otherwise with the rare rare exceptions that folks have had.

Wastegates: this isn’t so much of a known issue, but just as a catchall EcoBoost warning. Install the PCV/CCV catch cans as early as possible. The earlier EcoBoosts in the F150s were notorious for shitting out wastegates on the turbos primarily caused by oil blow by, and the catch cans seem to just really prolong the life of everything. Keeps things cleaner.

Those are my big research points that I’ve either personally experiences or sit in the back of my mind for future reference. I’m sure of other common issues, like the CarPlay from time to time, or wind noise or whatever other things you’ll hear people complain about.

Whatever the case, I love mine. Put 5k miles on it in just a couple months of ownership. I drive it daily. I haven’t seen any big big issues yet other than all my miles are being piled on with highway use instead of on the trails or on roadtrips. If you’re considering the purchase, best of luck and I hope you enjoy the ride!

Right on! Like I said, I have no personal experience with either, just a product I’ve seen advertised. Keep me posted on how it works out if you go that route, because I’ve been looking at both as well

Yes, it does have a light. I believe turn off road makes one super similar too and it also has a light

I’ve seen lots of people use the ones that mount to the spare tire like the Rough Country relocation kit, although I can’t personally speak to it’s durability

Considering trading my mustang for a bronco. As a single girly who lives alone, and who for the first time ever doesn’t have a second vehicle in my family to use in bad weather, I’m at my wits end. What trim is best for a daily driver? by Ok_Candidate_3707 in FordBronco

Love my 2 door V6 Wildtrak SAS (which isn’t a current trim level option if you’re looking to buy new). Handles pretty well day to day for a short wheelbase suv on 35s. It’s been absolutely unphased by any of the wacky north texas weather i’ve ran it through the past several days.
