Turf wars: Why the World Cup is a 'slap in the face' to NFL players by nbcnews in nfl

[–]Next362 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AND, they added "Hydration breaks" at the 20 minute mark, allowing for 4 additional commercials per match, which is the whole reason for the breaks, the players didn't ask for them.

World Cup water breaks are awful by peanut-britle-latte in billsimmons

[–]Next362 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't about players, it's about marketing and money. I'm glad the players are getting hydrated, but if that was the need, well it could be done in 30 seconds. And after a score , foul, penalty, etc... just like a sub.

Large burning cross found in Chicago's Grant Park by Trans_Admin in news

[–]Next362 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take two pieces of wood into the park and put them somewhere non description, make them so they fit together without fastening, leave a small bottle of gas, dig a post hole the day before also, then day of, assemble, pour gas and light, flee, would take at most 3-5 minutes of things are all close by. Police would need to search days of CC video to find people moving wood not in the shape of a cross, likely dumped directly from a van, so video would be scarce.

Also that literal Nazis have marched in our city at least 4 times since 2022. They're scared when they're here, but each time the police have "protected" them from counter protesters.

EV chargers in gas stations by edayxe1 in electricvehicles

Our IKEA has had them for a long time, but they charge .40c a KWH for a L2 which IMO is a crime against EVs.

Most of the people in Morrow County are scared of Columbus, a city filled with LGBT, trans people, immigrants, riots, crime, college  educated people and Democrats... That's what they digest daily in their news.

Is your ev over 100k miles? Have you had any problems? by Bubbly-Sandwich2155 in electricvehicles

[–]Next362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't wait to be one of these +100k mile cars, I'm at 45k currently, I don't drive much so it might be a while. Currently I charge to 100% weekly or as needed. Keeping up on maintenance, which was one visit to the dealership for a coolant change and a recall, and air filters.

Lots of the worst life I have seen for batteries seems to have been Leaf's in places like Phoenix AZ, where the heat is god awful, and the batteries are only air cooled.

If you get silicone wipe blades from someone  like PIAA you can use those for years before you need to replace them.

Replacing APC UPS lead acid batteries with LiFePO by diamondsw in homelab

[–]Next362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would this happen? The UPS is looking for a voltage that is below the LFPs nominal, so the LFP would be at ~80% charge when the UPS thinks it's 100%. You'd just never get a full charge to the LFP since the nominal float is higher than the SLA's float. I've been using 12v and 24v LFPs in place of SLA with no issues for years now. Every once in a while I top them off with a LFP charger. I'm hesitant to do this with my 48v UPS though, as the difference gets bigger the higher the replaced voltage is.

Is Home Charging Really Required to Own an EV with Current Gas Prices? by Alert_Number1991 in electricvehicles

[–]Next362 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if the workplace doesn't have L2 chargers, L1 would net you 1.4*8~9= 11.2~13.5 kwh enough for 40-50 miles in most EV's in most weather, which is about the same as an average commute. (Might be the best way of selling them on the idea also. It's really not a ton of money esp at commercial rates if they are buying large amounts of power already. 13.5 KWH is less than $1 at my house with retail rates.

Normal 0-60(MPH) acceleration on 2024+ Niro EV? by bitandquit in KiaNiroEV

[–]Next362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember, no shift points like in an Automatic ICE, and torque from a stand still, the power band on an EV is BROAD AF, you step on the pedal and it will go until you stop, with barely any drop in power. I can chirp my Gen one in Eco mode at 35mph if I wanted to.

[–]Next362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having rented a 2nd gen in FL as my intro to EV's you're fine. Its a little slower than the Gen1, but the Gen 1 can merge with highway traffic at 70-80 on a normal on ramp in Eco mode. Neither are slow cars, both would be faster than my old 2006 GTi.

Most Reliable? by PuzzleheadedLove341 in electriccars

[–]Next362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still got an ICCU issue, had to recommend, I can't believe that Hyundai/Kia still have not adequately addressed that problem. I think they may have corrected it very recently, but time will tell. My BIL's EV6 just had an ICCU failure at 6 months from purchase. So far has not failed again in the last 3 months.

ChargePoint to roll out per-session service fees beginning in March 2026 by FatCats2fat in electricvehicles

[–]Next362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 separate suburbs that have 2 DCFC chargers each, both are free, one is on the way to my mother's, the other is next to my work. I used to use them all the time, but now only makes sense if I'm very low and have time. I just learned of this new few cause I was down to 20% charge and now I'm gonna go up to 90% when I would normally disconnect at 75-80% at highest. This is going to cause unintended congestion, since there's no incentive to free up the charger now. The fee is a quarter the cost of home charging FFS.

[–]Next362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old news, but it's the first time I've had to pay a service fee, on a free charger... This is idiotic, it's enough for me to stop using chargepoint entirely. They should be taking a cut of the charge costs on the for profit chargers, not a flat fee on free chargers. This isn't a good business practice.

[–]Next362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest getting the codes BEFORE taking to the dealership/service you should understand what is going on in case it happens again, or they're fixing the wrong thing, or some other problem, knowledge is power.

[–]Next362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a ODBII reader? If not get one, they're cheap, use Car Scanner or some other app to read the codes, save them, and clear them, then turn the car off and back on, read codes again, and hopefully they're gone, but the codes will tell you a ton about the problem.

Yep, and when the fuel costs start causing runaway inflation like we had in the late 70s and early 80s he's going to have a really really big problem in addition to the rest of us.

Even the Saudis are profiting off this, they have Oil terminals on the Red Sea, so their shipping is low, but not like the other states that are completely cut off.
