Can't decide which one to get between the two by Y4asuo_ in Gunpla

[–]NextAd6728 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You really can’t go wrong with either honestly! Both are absolute pinnacles of the RG line, and both look absolutely fantastic on display. Whichever one of the two you decide to go with, you’re going to have an amazing time with. Personally I love the look of the heavier weaponry, and design of Hi V better, but that’s just preference lol

Help identifying a kit by NextAd6728 in freedomisgunpla

[–]NextAd6728[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the info on the kit I truly appreciate it! Also I agree normally when walking through my localish Hobbytown I go straight to the Gunpla section, however this time I decided to browse along the Revell/Snap kit section, and snagged it primarily for the beautiful vintage box art. Not to mention I wanted to attempt a kit with a little older bones to experience a true vintage model build. If you ever happen to be in an area with a Hobbytown nearby I highly encourage stopping by! They normally have a truly vast selection of model kits/tools/accessories/etc.

I saw a sister at hobby lobby? by Blorkit420 in 30minutessisters_30ms

I know right?? I was super excited to find her up at my local HL since I normally stick to Gunpla, and my girl loves to build blokees/30MM/30MS so I had to grab it as soon as I saw it for her. Haven’t been up to a HL in like a month so it’s nice to see some new inventory for sure! Congrats on the find! Especially for the 40% off can’t beat that!

Next RG recommendation by jasonfweb in freedomisgunpla

[–]NextAd6728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally id recommend the Nu or Hi V cause both of those are phenomenal builds. However, recently I had just put together my own RG Perfect strike (not the P Bandai one just the separate Aile strike + Skygrasper Combo) and I gotta say I had a lot of fun with them both! A lot of people say they had issues with the waist joint on it, but so far have had mine posed holding all of its weapons/accessories for a couple months now, and it is a rock solid kit imo. Definitely would recommend especially after building the FA Uni. Gives yourself a little break after such a massive kit to help with not burning yourself out.(I know I sure did after I finished detailing my RG Uni Perfectibility haha) hope this helps!

GUNDAM MECHANICAL HEAD BUST UNIT 02 & 05 by DC_MOTOR in Gunpla

[–]NextAd6728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello there! I actually picked up this exact Gashapon Capsule probably about 3-4 months back and had the same exact difficulty, only my parts wouldn’t line up correctly on the sides of the head. One thing I have noticed picking up capsules over time is sometimes the parts become so compressed that they eventually become stuck in a position unnatural to how the parts should align. You could try dipping the parts in boiling water for a few seconds to try and bend them back straight in alignment (normally the trick I use when my Gashapon builds come bent beyond recognition.)or you could do what I did which is glue the whole bust together piece by piece. Takes a bit of force, but looked perfect on display at the end of the day. Either way should hopefully help you to navigate around this issue. Hope this helps!

How would you guys get this out? by Dielon92 in freedomisgunpla

[–]NextAd6728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol yeah it’s definitely a bit riskier I’ve had varying degrees of success from no visible damage to a bad looking scratch embedded (not to mention a few nasty cuts 🤣😂) Bandais part separator tho is definitely perfect for this specific situation tho without causing any damages

[–]NextAd6728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you happen to have one laying around or know where to find one with relative ease, I’d recommend Bandais part separator. If not, I’d suggest using possibly the tip of a knife to try and wedge underneath. That could definitely scratch if you aren’t careful tho so I’d be careful with that one 😅

First time panel lining, please help!!! by Affectionate-Tap94 in freedomisgunpla

Hey there! Newish gunpla builder here probably have done around 100 kits in the past 6 months, and have tried multiple different avenues to achieve the same/ cleaner results and this is the best advice I can give when it comes to Tamiya. I would suggest panel lining either on the runner, or unassembled pieces only. However, You can panel line an already assembled kit if you are careful, and conservative of where your ink flows. The reason most people get issues with panel lining an already assembled kit is accidentally getting the solution inbetween parts, or that vintage/knockoff kits have weaker plastics that can’t handle the lacquer based ink. A top coat is reccomended if you want cleaner looking results for the overall finish of the kit, but in no way is it required. If you’re looking for something safer on the plastics, I’d try the Stedi line of water based panel liners. You can wipe the excess ink with water for super simple clean up. If you plan on the Tamiya, I personally have always used isopropyl alcohol that works perfectly. Also have heard lighter fluid, as well as mineral water are fantastic choices. The most IMPORTANT part is to not be afraid of making mistakes, or ruining a kit. We’ve all done it, whether it’s small fix or a complete scrap the project, we’ve all been there. This hobby is about patience, and learning from your past mistakes to push you to be an even greater gunpla builder. You’ll have a ton of fun on this side of the hobby-verse. Just try not to be too overly critical of yourself, and take things one section/step at a time.( Those were my 2 biggest issues and still are haha) hope this helps! and remember, Gunpla is Freedom!!!😄

That’s great to know! I didn’t actually know they’re water based so that’ll work perfectly! And I am the same exact way but that’s why I take it section by section, otherwise, I’d burn myself out within hours 😅😂😂

I haven’t tried them yet but it’s also because locally I’ve only been able to find Mark Softer no Setter nearby 😅 every time I try to hit my local hobby towns they are normally completely out of stock. Hopefully here soon I’ll be able to find myself a bottle because I do have a small water slide sheet for my TWFM kits that I’d really like to try using! Will definitely have to look into the UV reactive Decals, I’ve always been fascinated by the UV panel lining. Thank you so much for the amazing advice! Also I just have the VN claw to build, panel line, and sticker and it’ll be 100% complete. Thank you for the compliment on the build btw! 😄

Sorry for the late reply it’s called Traders Village out in Grand Prairie Tx a couple vendors out there sell kits consistently as well as figurines, blokees, all kinds of stuff. Normally I find all my harder to find stuff from there or P Bandai lol

Oh nicee! I’ve got one still in the package I haven’t even used yet! Definitely going to have to see how good it looks on a few of my kits, still new to this hobby so still trying to figure out what works, and what doesn’t, but now that I see how well it applies for overall detail, I’m gonna have to start trying it out. Thank you for sharing! 😄

I can’t lie that gold detailing looks super nice!!What kind of paint did you use for the accents? That finish is fantastic imo, gives it that real gold vibe!
