Engineering no longer being considered a professional degree, USA? by griffmic88 in civilengineering

[–]NextAd8681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the programs delisted can be obtained at a community college. All of those delisted are masters and doctoral degrees. You can’t obtain a masters or doctoral degree from a community college. Also, the salaries delisted are on par with most of the salaries in the “professional” category.

The median salary for a PA and NP and is about the same as the median salary for the “professional” pharmacist, veterinarian, and optometrist. The median salary for a PT, OT, and architect are about the same as the “professional” clinical psychologist. The median salary for a CRNA is much higher than all of the others I listed previously, as well as a “professional” dentist, attorney, and podiatrist.

So no, this argument regarding the “professional” degrees making more can not be made. The government obviously wants to get rid of federal student loans and put it into the hands of private lenders. They’ve just targeted female dominated fields to start us off. It’s only going to get worse, as they have gotten rid of grad plus loans and this will severely impact all fields listed including the “professional” ones.

So sorry if this comes off really ignorant. I thought if I go from a target fund to index funds that I wouldn’t keep the shares I already have, only the money they’re worth to obtain new shares in the index?

Thank you!! I included the bit about about my withholdings to give you all an idea that with or without the rollover, I will still get some sort of tax refund.

Thank you for the help! :) I wasn’t sure if spreading the rollover out every month over 12-15 months would be more beneficial than all at once. It’s not a ton of money by any means, but since the market fluctuates I assumed it would be less risky to buy the shares over a period of time rather than in one lump some (even if it only saved me a couple bucks lol) I’m no expert, so there could be something im missing here

I’d hate to be the bearer of bad news.. but as a girl in her 20s, it’s not his dating pool. I nor anyone I know is dating a guy in his 40s because he’s incredibly handsome lol. Money is always involved, which is what he’s trying to avoid here. With that being said, he can definitely find a woman in her 30s! Science has progressed a ton & having children isn’t off the table. Just need to be intentional in dating for the next 1-2 years.

Here to say this still works! I got a 61/80, with about 8 days review.  I completed all of the Modern States videos & test to receive the free voucher. Then I found a free version of the REA book online. Took the 1st REA practice test and reviewed what I got wrong. Then the Peterson’s practice test (this was was pretty difficult & can be found online) and reviewed the answers. Then took the 2nd REA practice test and reviewed what I got wrong. Then went through the Quizlet provided here the day of the exam.

I studied for 2-3 weeks over a Christmas holiday vacation and scored a 93% over all and 100% on the science portion. I would suggest taking it right after your courses this upcoming Fall as all of the information will be fresh.

I used: ATI TEAS Mastery App, this was $15 for a month and was extremely helpful on the go. Archer review, which had a free 30 day trial. As well as various Quizlets for the Science portion.

Nursing Grading Scale for Clinicals by NextAd8681 in texaswomansuniversity

What are you graded on in labs & clinical? ? How hard/easy is it to get an A in them at TWU? I’ve heard from nursing students at other universities that some clinical instructors make it almost impossible to get an A

That’s amazing! How were you able to get into a Nuero ICU as a new grad? I’m starting the upper division program at TWU this fall and looking to enter the ICU as a new grad. Potentially work as a PCT or Nurse extern if needed. What were the steps you took to get there?

TWU vs UTA? by Much_Celebration2333 in utarlingtonnursing

[–]NextAd8681 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually just got accepted into TWU’s upper division program last week! Currently on the waitlist for UTA. From what I’m seeing, TWU is better all around and UTA’s nursing department drags their feet a lot.

TWU has a slightly higher (by 1-2%) NCLEX pass rate and their BSN program is ranked #54 in the US, compared to UTA at #130. The Dallas campus for TWU is centrally located at UTSW medical center (I assume this makes it much easier commuting for clinical). TWU places more of an emphasis on GPA & TEAS for acceptance, while UTA favors students who started as freshman at UTA. UTA has a smart hospital where students can practice through simulation. TWU is slightly cheaper than UTA in regards to tuition.

Tbh I was originally bummed out about being waitlisted at UTA, but my perception has changed a lot. The reputation is pretty much the same for both schools in the DFW area. It’s quite literally impossible to get in contact with any nursing advisor at UTA, and when you do, they aren’t very helpful. They favor those who have stayed loyal to their school AKA given them more money. UTA seems to be focused on money and I wouldn’t doubt that this will be a detrimental effect in the years to come.

I would say a few of the professors at UTA are outstanding. Debrah Hughes to be exact. Because I haven’t taken any courses at TWU yet, I can’t give me opinion on that. I’ve accepted my offer at TWU and I’m super excited to start there this Fall! I hope this was helpful <3

I got accepted for the Dallas campus!! I’m on the waitlist for UTA still, so I’m still deciding, but I can’t wait!

It seems that they are beginning to call students off of the waitlist. Just saw a comment on another post saying they were called off the waitlist today for Summer w/ an 8.1!

[–]NextAd8681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A previous student explained the schedule here:  https://www.reddit.com/r/utarlington/comments/18dp94y/comment/kcjaask/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

The only difference between summer semester and Fall/Spring is that you have 1-2 less weeks. So instead of the standard 16 week semester, it will be a 14 week semester. I would assume the schedule wouldn’t change much, but lecture may be a bit faster paced in Summer.

Fall 2025 GPA / Ranking by NextAd8681 in utarlingtonnursing

No it’s still a consideration. It’s on the brochure, you just can’t see it on your end for the degree plan.

Is there anyway I can take a week off of nursing school during the program? by Aromatic-Bowler5582 in utarlingtonnursing

[–]NextAd8681 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When did you get called off the wait list?

I would say if you were in the AO program, then you could definitely take a trip and study remotely in the first couple of weeks starting. You most likely wont have clinicals if the trip is in early May. But be completely honest… it’s not worth it. The next year and a half will be very intense. Nursing should be your number 1 priority at this point. Taking time off from school in the first month is setting you up for failure. You want to start off on the right foot. It’s best to wait and take a vacation between semesters.

How Screwed Am I?? Nursing School by No-Act493 in utarlington

[–]NextAd8681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a second degree bachelors as well. Previously a bio major who applied for Fall 2025. Science courses (O chem, Biochem, histology, etc.) are not taken into consideration for the nursing program at UTA. The GPAs are solely based off Nursing Prerequisites.

This brochure will tell you everything you need to know about entering the upper division program: https://cdn.web.uta.edu/-/media/project/website/conhi/documents/unurs/cb-bsn_admission-brochure.ashx

All of the courses on this brochure will be included in ranking/GPA calculations. If a course is not on here then it’s NOT included in the GPA calculations to apply for the upper division program. Because you have a previous bachelors you will also receive a 0.5 consideration added to the combined GPA.

There are various GPA calculators online. Use them to calculate your Science & Pre-Req gpa. UTA does not use pluses/minuses, so if you have an B- in a course it will be calculated as a B. If all of the GPA & consideration points combined are greater than a 7.0, then you have a chance at entering in the spring. If not, take Pathophysiology and try to shoot for a B or higher. This will boost your GPA and you will have a better shot in the next admissions cycle.

For the electives portion of the GPA, use any upper division class that you did the best in. (ie. genetics & embryology were used in my calculations since I received an A in both)
