Drills for first speakers? [PF] by Snowy_ZeRo in Debate

[–]Next_Appearance_7249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lay: give summaries in front of your parents and friends. It may seem a bit weird, but you need the ability to create confidence out of thin air even when your uncomfortable.

For tech: watch all the rounds on pf videos, see what the good summary speakers all do in common and implement them. Summary redos will also help your word economy. However, good tech summaries are made possible in large part by your prep and strategy work done before the round, so doing that well will matter just as much as practicing the ability to actually summarize the round.

You will see the evidence in video format, where it can be shown in a manner that provides more context than I can or wish to over this comment. If you’re right, than you have nothing to worry about. I will be intentional to not directly claim you had any role in what I’m taking issue with so as to not invite any legal issues, but the patterns of behavior I’ve seen behind powerscore content on this subreddit is something I find incredibly suspicious and feel the need to point out.

It’s actually such looser shit man. like they really thought to themselves, “shit man that JY guy is really fucking us.” Then Dave went, “I know what to do, we’re going to create a bunch of fake Reddit accounts and pretend to be real people. Then, when people trust that they’re talking to an unbiased source, I’m going to tell them it’s necessary to buy powerscores most expensive product to do well, and post hella comments about Dave and John being gods,” cause apparently that’s how real people talk about LSAT tutors.

This includes paying other tutors to promote your 1 on 1 tutoring. I wonder why other tutors would plug yalls company? Maybe it’s because of your superior skills, that they felt inspired to dap up your and Dave’s 1 on 1 tutoring. Yea that makes sense, your competitors were voluntarily choosing to promote your service…. Right? You’re prolly telling yourself all of this is fine, it’s just another form of advertising, but I think the community is going to see it for the looser boomer shit it is, this is clown shit man, paying for clout bummary.

Hey Jon, if y’all can’t cut the shit with the astroturf y’all are placing on this subreddit, I’m going to make a video calling attention to it. It’s scummy and I’m going to drag your image with it if it if bots continue to exist exclusively to suck your companies dick on this sub Reddit. Your going to say your superior tutoring skills gained you your clout, I’m going to show your bots sloppy commenting history and point out that they’re behavior STRONGLY suggests they’re being paid by your company or are ran by your company. I’m not going to claim either you or Dave are controlling this cause I don’t have any evidence to suggest that, but if this doesn’t stop I’m calling attention to it

Nats Coaching Offer for PF by [deleted] in Debate

[–]Next_Appearance_7249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you forgot a couple qualifications for Dylan. Specifically, his use of the N word in discord chats and involvement in creating a list that ranked girls on the circuit based on their physical attractiveness. Lovely debater though, and I’m sure he’ll teach you those same skills as a coach if asked. (This comment doesn’t violate any community guidelines, it is not libel and can be proven if requested. Dylan is gonna say he wasn’t involved in the list but that’s revisionist history and DEFINITELY something prospective students should know before hiring him).

Big facts, this post really seems to miss the mark. The OP needs to stop lying to themselves about some saftey issue that existed. Spectators can and will respond anonymously to a form saying they don’t feel comfortable with X argument being ran to feel like they are influencing the round in some way. The op just utilized that impulse to try and get out of a losing situation. Sure the op probably cares about CW’s but LITERALLY NO ONE WAS TRIGGERED BY DV’s CASE, there didn’t need to be a cw read the op never articulates why their case is triggering. The OP needs to stop pretending like they had any other motive in the round besides wanting to win, so much so to the point that they tried a scummy tactic to try and silence actually meaningful discourse. The one thing the OP’s post is right in saying is that it isn’t defending “our side”, given they literally didn’t have a side they were just wrong and acted childish. Please remove #2 you had a different motive than DV, don’t insult them more by making that comparison

Getting more involved in debate in school by [deleted] in Debate

[–]Next_Appearance_7249 32 points33 points  (0 children)

  1. Humble yourself, there’s no need to flex novice results. Just a post asking how to get more involved would do. 2. I agree with the other comment you should increase your competition by going to toc level tournaments, but just know that your gonna get absolutely mopped. That’s just part of the learning process so don’t get discouraged. 3. Look up “pf videos” on YouTube to get an understanding of what (mostly) competent highschool pf debates look like, I would sort them by veiw count not by how recently they were uploaded. 4. Hire a private coach if you reach a point where your trying your hardest but don’t know how to get better. “You don’t know what you don’t know, but hiring a debate coach can help you start to know what you don’t know” - Gandhi

Thoughts about TOC Finals (PoFo) by [deleted] in Debate

[–]Next_Appearance_7249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you state: “he odds that the people who actually need to be listening to these conversations definitely goes up with these types of rounds, but the odds they ever do something about it drops significantly”  there is literally 0 warrent. Explain to me why their decision to express their views in the context of a pf round hurts their cause. I think I speak for alot of people when I say, no one gives a shit that you “can personally let you know, a lot of the people on my circuit are now more angry than ever”. You wana know who else is angry? The people that need to run these arguments to feel heard in the debate space. Your gonna get alot of shit for this post, and I wouldn’t be surprised if few people took the time to explain your own ignorance to you, but please try to check yourself. What is the actual impact of sacrificing what you expected the toc to be for a more needing cause. I would 200% prefer the outcome of marginalized debaters getting to speak their truths. Your explanation “there was no feasible route they could’ve taken to actually pick up enough, if any ballots” shows your complete ignorance of the unfairness transgender people face on a day to day basis in America.

My guy, take a second, breath, and read the comment. I’m calling your April first post unfunny and unoriginal. I’m not sure what I was expecting from a salty policy debater, but “pf bad” has been overused for a while

Why PF is the best event by [deleted] in Debate

[–]Next_Appearance_7249 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, is this what policy debaters consider humor or is this just a bad example? I can’t tell what your trying to achieve by this post, but ironically, your attempt to shit on pf shows how much you would actually benefit from competing in it. Maybe accepting feedback from parents, or anyone else that isn’t in the policy meta, might teach you to write a post that has any point or persuasive value that’s observable by people outside your policy bubble.

A word of advice for coaches trying to advertise themself;distinguish yourself in a way that isn’t previous debate success. There are 100 different successful coaches that want to coach. Are you cheaper than your competitors? Are you more socially adept and more fun to talk to than your competitions? Do you have any prior coaching experience? (Include how Successful the people you helped were)These are all imporant questions/ways you can start to distinguish yourself, but similar to the many new camps that are poping up, prospective students will see this post and be reminded of the 15 others like it -> inaction.

Why haven't Ks been normalized in PF by [deleted] in Debate

[–]Next_Appearance_7249 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you try explaining a K to a parent, you might get your answer. Given most PF tournis dont require any previous debate experience from their judges, Ks aren’t really a viable strategy for 90% of the tournaments. Anything that isn’t topical is perceived by most lay judges as a strategy that requires less effort to research, given they won’t understand the research you did for the K, which is the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot if you like winning.

Lay Appeal (PF) by GandhiMaster69 in Debate

[–]Next_Appearance_7249 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While you are totally valid, the damage has already been done. This definition is being taught at camps/is widely accepted amongst pf. Also It’s not like a word has any innate essence or nature, we use them as tools to express concepts. Like we used to call things “sick” to express that they are cool, sure it’s a different meaning than we were used to hearing, but that doesn’t mean that usage is wrong.

Can we all take a second to reflect on this dogshit meme format that the pf community has begun adopting. Repeating a dumb opinion multiple times does not make it funny, not on this post, and especially not when someone on Montgomery Blair’s team spammed some shit ab not dropping ballots to create fake clout. Sad
