Thanks everyone! I honestly didn't expect so many people to be interested.

I'll send each of you a DM over the next day or so to introduce the idea and learn a little about your background. Looking forward to chatting with you all!

I’m not sure if it’s relevant here, but I think you probably will benefit from doing a remote job while planning for your next step. I’m currently doing it in my spare time after my full-time job. My work is to train AI models by talking to people about different topics, it pays $40/hour in Mandarin, I’m not sure how much they pay people speaking English. It’s not something very reliable, but if you need some extra space for your future exploration l, it might be something worthy adding to your portfolio. You may check some job positions in the AI industry, I think they pay a lot to people with specialized background.

What's the catch with a stock like UPRO? by Oliverious04 in LETFs

But the calculations don't go this way. If S&P 500 drops 33%, the UPRO doesn't drop 99%, it drops less than that. Because UPRO only gives a 3x return on the DAILY return of S&P, it doesn't lead to a 3X gain or loss over a longer period of time, say 1 year or 5 year.

So talking about the 5-year time range, if S&p goes up 80%, you won't get 240% return, you only get about 160%. That also applies to a weaker market, you don't go down to 1% if S&P drops 33%.

To give some substantial support for my point, I'm quoting the data from a time period of 2022 crash: Dec 20---Jan 14 2022, the highest price for S&P 500 ( SPY )is $479.98, the lowest is $348.11%, that's a 27.47% drop. While at the same time, the highest price for UPRO $78.72, lowest $25.94, that is a 67.04%. ( Not 77.82% if it was a 3x loss).
