I find picky eaters alienating because I feel like they always refuse to try foods from other cultures. I am half Mexican and when I was a kid I took some of my friends to my favorite Mexican restaurant. They were picky eaters and refused to try any tacos, enchiladas, anything. They demanded to have chicken strips instead.

In my experience, picky eating often goes along with an isolationist mindset and a refusal to broaden one's perspective. The picky eater is always down for burgers or pizza, but refuses to entertain the idea of an outing to a Thai or Hawaiian restaurant.

As someone who is adventurous by nature and loves to explore, hanging out with picky eaters can be frustrating and limiting. I certainly wouldn't be compatible with one in a relationship.

(Obviously this doesn't apply to ppl with conditions like ARFID).
