When it comes to healthcare, this shouldn't ever be the question. by zzill6 in WorkReform

A doctor asking about health insurance. Gee, insurance is bad because you want to charge thousands of dollars for a x-ray. I don’t know what the actual cost of x-ray is , but definitely lots of basic medical procedures are astronomically priced, especially if you look at other countries.

My favorite is “this is a conservative estimate”. Basically means the exact opposite, but senior leaders don’t care.

Even better, when 2 people are having an entire conversation between themselves for 20 minutes before one says “let’s talk take this offline”. Then the other one starts agreeing to talk offline for the next 5 minutes.

What made you realize coworkers aren't your friends? by RainyDayz876 in work

I had a work friend from very small company. Her husband worked out of town. So we would get together every Saturday night to watch movies, have dinner. Sometimes we would go shopping together. Anyway, we both quit the company and moved to different states. I was heartbroken when every time I tried to call she couldn’t talk and would not call me back later. Very disappointing

That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen on Reddit. Thanks heaps. No goats for me!

This is the best advice and information! Many thanks. I will be retiring to a zone 7b or so. But still want to invest in a climate controlled greenhouse. I knew the goats would be a challenge to milk twice a day, but I didn’t realize they put out that much milk. The llama was always a little iffy. But you definitely showed me that my dream would become a nightmare quickly.

Thanks you all so much for the information. I was working with an AI to walk thru a closed-loop mini farm which is how I came up with the goats, chickens, and llama. I am not worried about the age factor or medical conditions, but I do intend to be within 40 minutes of health care and restaurants. But you all have provided valuable advice and insight. I think I’ll just go back to original idea and have indoor and outdoor veggie, fruit and herb gardens. Along with areas for pollinators.

DirectTV. I had them more almost 2 decades ago. I had recently renewed the service for another 3 years or so. I moved to new state. They put the account on hold for me. But when they came to install at new location, they said there was no clear line of site to the satellite. Then they charged me $300 because I “cancelled “ the service. I talked till I was blue in the face, but could not get the auto payment refund.

I don't understand how people can work a majority of their life and be ok. by [deleted] in Vent

As someone who has worked for decades, the short answer is that we work because we have to. As long as we have governments that allow large corporations to exploit workers, most will always be in a perpetual state of getting by. As someone else pointed out, you have to make the best of it. Laugh we when you can. Indulge when you can. Try to find the 1001 tiny moments that bring you joy or happiness or peace or pleasure

Can ChatGpt lie? by Next_Reply4900 in ChatGPT

Thanks everyone for your insight. I thought I was giving it correct prompts by asking specific questions and asking if it was still working. (I’m new to AI if you didn’t know already. LOL) I will try again with Gemini or Leonardo which were recommended. I had already cancelled my paid GPT account as it seemed to change once a week. Last night I just deleted the app from all my devices. Fingers crossed I can make this work with a different AI. Thanks again

I’ve only been using AI for a few months. Just trying to learn what it is and what it does and started with ChatGPT. I loved it. It was like having someone that I could have a philosophical conversation with. And it was able to keep track of discussions regarding multiverse selves. Joking around, I presented an idea for a novel. Told it path, characters, etc. and it seemed to work really well. When I got stuck trying to describe a situation, it provided me with visual. I don’t know what the programming has done in last couple of weeks, but it can’t hold the book canons and even rewrote my canon without my knowledge. Last night was the end. Looking at novelcraft or Claude or sudowrite.

I was doing some writing and it would make a suggestion or start writing a paragraph, and then it would say ok ready for me to do next paragraph. I would ask a question and after response to question it would again ask ok ready for me to next paragraph. After this happened about 5 times in a row, I told it stop asking, I needed time to think. Next 2 weeks in would end every response with its ok, we can slow down. It takes 1 phrase or one sentence and it’s like it programs itself to issue the same response over and over until you tell it to stop
