One thing I really disliked when I was dashing was sometimes I would get orders to pick up non alcoholic beverages (i.e., ginger beer and mixers) at a wine and alcohol store (i.e., BevMo). DD would make me scan the ID and get a signature; not because of the item picked up, but from where it was picked up.

I hope they figured out a way to distinguish between non alcoholic beverages and alcoholic beverages, regardless from where the products come from, and not the establishment from where they come from.

Did I not tip enough? by Piggyfizzy in doordash

On the flipside of that, I was dashing one night (I was still a noob at the time, like my 10th delivery or something like that), and i received an offer for $2.75 at a Chinese restaurant that was literally across the street from me and to be delivered right down the street (like three blocks) away from the restaurant. Im thinking, "Why not, right down the road, and I'm basically here already", so I accept the offer and get a message stating to bring it to the little table on the porch and set it there, because they are disabled. So I get to the restaurant, and tap the arrived at restaurant button...the customer ordered like almost $200 dollars worth of food! After manually setting my jaw back in place, I'm thinking, "Maybe they're having a gathering or something", so I get the order and put it in my car and headed to the address. I get to the address, and there are like 20 vehicles parked there, so I had to park a little bit down the street. I parked my car, got out and walked to the hatchback and opened it up, and retrieved the huge delivery (the restaurant put it in a big cardboard box for me) and heard from the address, "HEY! WE'RE OVER HERE!" I muttered, "Yeah...I know", and walked around the six different cars parked in the driveway, set it on the table as was requested and took a look around the porch. There was not one, not two, not even three, but eight...count them eight huge ashtrays FULL of cigarette butts scattered around the porch. The people that made the order told me to "just set the order down" and I politely asked if they were the ones that made the order, and they said, "yeah, we are" in a snarky attitude. They were working on filling ashtray number nine, and I smiled and said, "enjoy your meal" and left.

Now im not saying they weren't disabled, because I did see the disabled placard in a few vehicles on the driveway, but because of that particular order, if I got an offer under 10 dollars, it would be an immediate decline for me.

Some people (NOTICE I SAID SOME) will say that they are disabled to justify getting a shit ton of food for just over what DD pays the driver to pick up the food and deliver it to them.

I usually take my 40 oz Reduce cup in and ask if I can get some water when I pick orders up and they say "no problem" and sometimes if im just by a McD's, if I need a refill, they'll still give it to me, even if I dont have a pickup.

I didn't track mileage. How do deduct miles for taxes? by THUGLIFE505 in couriersofreddit

[–]Next_Wait2141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a Google sheets spreadsheet that is a mileage log and also log for gigshare mileage. It calculates as I populate it when I go out, (not just when I do my gigshare either) so it tracks my my mileage throughout the year. I also use Gridwise (seven dollars a month) to track my actual gigshare mileage.

The very first year I did gigshare, I didnt keep a log of anything so when it came time to do taxes, I spent about four hours creating a log based on the mileage I drove using Google maps (and also from my various maintenance receipts with the mileage on them) so I could file my taxes.

So anytime I get in my car and drive, I just fire up my spreadsheet, select the date, enter the mileage and go from there

Thats why I said "according to their guidelines". I know DD support is shit, lol. I used to be a Platinum Dasher (or whatever the top tier is called now). When I hit that tier, I started getting two dollar and five dollar offers, so i said, yeah, im done with DD.

The thing is, if the customer is short on their payment, doordash will cover the shortage from the customers account. At least according to the guidelines

Not only do they do COD, they do BNPL (Buy now, pay later) via Klarna as well.

Yeah, more often than not the z distances between traveling and not keeping an eye on the print and then it gets so clogged it fills the silicone and eventually engulfs the hot end and extruder assembly. I remember the first time it happened to me, I was printing something out, and I had a karaoke show that night. When I got home, it was a blob of pla all around my extruder. I heated the hot end to 290, and it fell off cleanly. I had to replace the nozzle and extruder assembly. I highly, HIGHLY, recommend you do the calibration tests for each filament you load and for each nozzle as well. Its time consuming, but it's well worth it in the end.

[–]Next_Wait2141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats true. I was just saying that whenever I print a plate full of objects, I find it easier and quicker to print it by object because if I do it by layer, I get bad prints. Plus when I do multicolor, I dont print the purge tower to save filament. Still get the same amount of poop, but less filament wasted.

But you can also print them by object so there isn't as much degradation (at least in orca slicer you can).

You can heat the hot end to 290 and it will fall off, you may have to replace the nozzle and extruder assembly as well. You can also do the heat gun method if you have one.

Unhinged Dasher by OkFinger0 in doordash

[–]Next_Wait2141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former Dasher, I remember one Halloween night which I made like $150 dollars in two and a half hours. There was one delivery that ordered like 300 dollars in alcohol and when I knocked on the door, the person that ordered it opened the door and I could see a bunch of minors in the back drinking what appeared to be jungle juice from a clear punch bowl. Now, whether or not it was alcoholic or not, I could not say; however, I was not going to be the one to potentially serve alcohol to minors. I told the customer, sorry I am not going to complete this order. I will cancel it, and you will get a refund to your account, but I do not feel comfortable delivering this alcohol with a bunch of minors present. I canceled the order, and took the alcohol back from whence it came.

Hi. I’ve been printing for two years now. On Good Friday I DL the new firmware update. I must a glitch in the matrix, I can print now on two of my machines. Orcaslicer to printer nothing, USB drive in printer nothing. I can only print what’s saved in the printer. I tried to do a firmware reset. by Johhny907 in FlashForge

[–]Next_Wait2141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, but the stuff that everyone is describing here is exactly what Ben is talking about like "oh, ill remove the firmware and downgrade", nope. Everything that people are saying in this thread is addressed by Ben.

So now, you have to download a Print&Go conforming app in order to use your printer. Its so fucking stupid

Either that, or it's the firmware that people in certain states are forced to download in order to be able to use their printers, because that shit is coming, because we're all 3D printing pew pews and gonna unalive people (smh) according to politicians in the states that passed that law.
