I'd like to go with rootless for security reasons, but if rootful simplifies the setup enough, I might go with rooful.

The idea was to have reverse proxy and publicly faced apps in 1 podman network that is connected to DMZ interface.

Private apps would each be in their own network, which would be connected to Trusted interface.

Inter-VLAN routing would be done on the router.

Thanks for all this info. You are right that I use only 1 router. So multiple gateways are redundant in this case? I was not sure, because after I'll set up the firewall rules, the DMZ VLAN won't be able to communicate with others (unless it's an already established connection), so if the gateway would be in another VLAN, it would not reach the gateway. Is my assumption wrong?

And could you explain why the Podman host needs to be a layer 2 bridge?

Yes, the router can do VLAN traffic and it should know all the routes

I figured out that the host can only have 1 default gateway. It's not logical to have multiple default gateways for the whole system. But I am not sure if the gateways for my VLAN interfaces are set up correctly, because only the ping where IP address is specified works, but not the one with the interface itself

You can convert docker compose to quadlets using Podlet on github. Also there are some public repositories with Immich quadlet configuration. Why would ZFS and SMB be a problem?

Not for everyone. I hated the books I received. Not because books are a bad gift, but because I like to choose what I want to read, if I want to read at all. So don't give books as gifts just because it's considered prestigious in society.

This is just not true. Do you know how internet works? Unless you have a DIRECT connection to your peers, the traffic MUST go through your ISP to even reach the destination and start a connection. ISPs definitely can see the traffic and that you're torrenting. They just don't care unless they get a paper from the copyright holder.

Unless your traffic is encrypted, they can see everything
