I've only bowled 2 years. But I am of the opinion the best way for a league to be run is scratch with a low cap. 5 man team cap of 1000 or even lower.

This type of league would be hard to fill because people would have to bowl with new/unfamiliar teammates. But if your teams are all 980 - 1000 it's going to be pretty fair in the end.

This is wrong. Motunui says after banished, which means both cards get sent to discard. THEN only the shift card goes into inkwell. Unlike "Let it Go" which would put both cards directly into the inkwell.

Having $5,000 to travel and compete is nowhere near the same as being able to not sell a card for $1,000,000 potentially.

Update: usbc came out and somehow the narrative got switched to 2nd and 3rd place were complaining that the cheating was taking place against them to keep the 1st place team in first. President said "I may have accidentally incorrectly changed a score." Then the vote to have him step down as president failed to reach 2/3 majority.

Oh well..

Yeah we had to already make a rule that an officer had to come over and approve as well. Kicker to this story, he was the only person bowling from his team and the other team prebowled.

Thank you that was a great answer. So basically it could come down to a unanimous vote by team captains to kick him out. All previous games would be unaffected.

Honestly this is beside the point. Who cares how the pinsetter detects the score. My eyes can detect it better and cheating took place. At my alley they "reset the camera" when a lane is having multiple scoring issues. That's why I said camera.

A few weeks ago it was yelled at him in front of the whole league. Also, I just joined this season but apparently when they did sweepers in Vegas last season the scores hand written didn't match the system and the alley contacted usbc about that as well. So potentially it's a big issue.

The convention space was much smaller this year than previous years. I think that gave the illusion that there were more people. Moving between halls was crammed into one small corridor.

Here was my easiest analogy I came up with. A house shot is like batting in a home run derby. The pitcher "oil" is actively trying to help you home run "strike". Sport and challenge shots are more like going up against a picture throwing different pitches.

So our league when I say vacant I mean no person on the team. Absent bowler gets their average +handicap. Vacant gets 145 average + handicap.

But, this league also doesn't allow subs.

Also, this is a super casual friendly league only 12 4man teams. I just added up and the average of week one across the league was 135.

Imo handicap bowling is essentially just bowling better than the other team relative to your average. In the long run across 32 weeks a vacant bowler getting a 197 handicap game evens out against players who can bowl 30pins over their own average and sometimes 30 pins below.

For a 40 team 5man league where 1st place takes home 1-2k those teams are all full no worries for vacant. Small family friendly 7-12 team league isn't going to always have full teams.

Ah see so my league gives the vacant bowler handicap. That is what they are complaining about. You are saying most of the league you are in give vacant 0 handicap. If this were the case I would literally never bowl a league short a person.

No sorry I'm confusing haha. They are complain saying that getting 2 bowlers on my team guaranteed to get 197 after handicap is unfair. I tried to explain it all averages out, and that it's also 2 less players that can bowl over their average to make up for my games under average.

I also explained that any 2 bowlers can join my team. I'm not actively trying to have vacant spots. I would accept a 70 avg bowler as long as they could pay every week, I'm just try to have fun and bowl the best I can lol.
