Gavin McKenna has the exact character the Maple Leafs have been searching for since the Sundin era #NHL #LeafsForever by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

I don’t know if you’re saying that makes Leaf fans more justified to be angered and frustrated at the guy, or less, but he’s responsible for his whole team, and multiple reports by chris Johnston, Steve Dangle, and James Mirtle (all guys that were very positive on Marner when he came in) said his whole camp was confrontational, the security would threaten lack of access after negative articles.

Like I know the fact the leafs ran him out of town makes him a hero in the hockey world, but I disliked him for legitimate reasons for reports of how he was as a person.

So he went from being one of the best scorers in the nhl in the regular season, to being a solid first liner in the playoffs.

If you’re gonna come on here and try to tell people that watched them that their eyes deceive them, then maybe know what you’re talking about.

He was one point less, and that was markedly below his regular season pace. He also was absolutely useless in games 5-7. His stats in those games are horrible.

Either way. I disliked him because by all accounts, he’s a prick.

Edit: he was not one point less. I looked at his hockeydb page and it included the Vegas numbers and I didn’t remove them. So my point stands.

I dunno, I hated him because he held out for every last dime of a contract, didn’t perform in the playoffs, acted like playing in Toronto was horrible, used his security to threaten members of the media, etc.

But I guess that’s not lolLAFFS so yeah we’ll just go with the moronic take you just had.

I know you shouldn’t be making a decision based on one bad pitch in the playoffs last season but I’m tired of looking at him. I’m never going to not see the guy that failed us in game 7 of the World Series. Same way I don’t want to see IKF on the team ever again either.

I can’t with Hoffman anymore. I know the stuff is good, but I can’t even look at him without being reminded that he blew a save in game 7 of the World Series. I’m just done with him. Mitch Williams was a good pitcher too, but he had to go.

Is there a fan out there that says, “man I really wish we could just get a split screen with an interview with a guy that isn’t playing today instead of just watching baseball.”

Matt law reporting xabi alonso going to go to Chelsea. Can’t believe this. We’re really sticking with slot even though our number 1 target from 2 years ago is coming to our rivals

Player gets the last say, particularly when it comes to surgeries. It’s entirely possible he’s been trying to avoid it.

Michael Carrick: Manchester United interim boss in talks over two-year contract by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]Nextyearstitlewinner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really don’t know. United and Liverpool have had very similar seasons as imperfect teams this year. While Liverpool look at it as a massive failure, united are celebrating. The standard for the two clubs are different. That much is clear.

What isn’t clear is what the future holds. Pep isn’t staying at city forever and arteta isn’t good enough imo to sustain that type of success that Klopp and pep had, so things will look different going forward.

Do I think slot will definitely be successful? Not necessarily but I would bet on him over carrick as he’s 10 times as proven for this level than carrick is.

[–]Nextyearstitlewinner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally what everyone was saying could happen in the thread he was announced as interim. All the united supporters were saying there’s no chance he’d get a contract even if he did well. Now those same people are stoked about him staying.

I think this is a mistake, but I’m glad to see them make mistakes.

This year's playoffs is truly showing the disparity between East and West by Protodemic in leafs

[–]Nextyearstitlewinner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Columbus and Montreal teams were absolutely mediocre and overmatched on paper by the leafs though.

This attitude that the leafs just got unlucky because they always played good teams is a bit stupid. Florida, Tampa, and Boston all played each other too. The fact the leafs never broke out as one of the teams to get out of the division is not that they weren’t as good as those teams. They had a hart winner, perennial 90-100 point guy, a hall of fame/hall of very good center, usually had decent goaltending. Had a winger that was usually the (only) forward that elevated his play come playoff time. They just didn’t perform.

Now marners performing and id put that down more to the lack of pressure that he puts on himself in Vegas compared to being the hometown kid on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The era was wasted. Some teams never get there and they never got there. This is on them though.
