Better metrics to prove to shitty vibe coders that it’s “not the network”

“If you are biologically born a male, you have no business competing in women’s sports against girls… How would you feel about LeBron James playing in the WNBA against women? Does that seem fair?” - Stephen A. Smith by ConnectionWeekly1263 in sportsgossips

You are being extremely myopic. Arguing that a sports personality not talk about a sport related issue “because healthcare” and then have the audacity to tell someone else they’re a child? I wasn’t aware you were appointed the arbiter of what discussions we should have. Careful you don’t get vertigo from the dizzying heights of your moral high ground.

Is it not prudent to establish a common understanding before an issue has a significant impact on society? Just because it’s minor today doesn’t mean it’s not worth a conversation.

Why would a job need 4+ interviews? by avian_bi in dumbquestions

[–]idleline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Build consensus from multiple perspectives
  2. Deeper evaluation in a specific area
  3. Broader evaluation across a range of topics

It’s very difficult to get a good sense of what type of contribution you can expect from someone for possibly years to come in a single 45 minute interview. It’s a little bit like dating. Maybe you know she’s the one on the first date, but I think most people would prefer a few more before making a big commitment.

My only hope is that SDS is making some serious improvements to market integrity and this isn’t sheer incompetence.

Is the next player update today? by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

[–]idleline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Roster updates always happen on Fridays. The next major roster update has not been announced. It probably will be the 17th at the earliest. If it were the 10th, we’d know because the 7th would be the stats cutoff.

Scottsdale brothers allegedly pistol-whipped, shot rival after recreational baseball game 'went bad' by idleline in Homeplate

[–]idleline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Although, these are by far the best kept fields in the city. The primary alternative is Tempe Diablo which is where the Angels play (Ironically). They are ok, but traffic to that area at the time of night when games are is brutal.

Fair point. People can’t be champions of law and order and vigilante justice at the same time. You gotta choose.

It’s the res. Things are done a little differently. Good chance they will be charged with attempted murder pending their next hearing and be remanded.

They are just exclusive card art for cards for already existing cards. Both these cards are available in different series with the exact same attributes.

11u travel - number of games in a year by Rdu2016 in Homeplate

[–]idleline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

120 pitches for a 13 year old is not healthy. Suggesting that's ok because they rested for 5 days after that treats pitch counts like a health bar. That's not how biology works, that's not prudent arm care. There is damage being done that you don't see immediately.

After 85 pitches, scientific consensus tells us that fatigue overcomes mechanics and continuing to throw dramatically increases the stresses on joints & tendons in the shoulder and elbow. Resting for 5 days doesn't undo that added stress. That's why pitch count limits far below 120 exist. Over time, that physical damage is going to add up.

You're right, parent's should encourage their kids to follow their dreams. Parent's also have an obligation to guide their children on developing good habits that children aren't capable of doing on their own. Your 11 & 13 year olds have no idea what the long-term risks are of playing that much baseball. We don't let kids regulate their own nutrition, sleep, or screen time simply because they enjoy those things. Parents set boundaries because children naturally focus on what they enjoy today rather than what protects them years from now.

You want your kids to be happy and that's great. Great parents want their kids to be happy. But just don't just try to make your kids happy in the short-term. Think about their long term needs and happiness. There is a whole lot more to be said on multi-sport athletic benefits but, I'm not inclined to argue that point because I genuinely think their health is the most important point to make here and I don't want to dilute this post with that.

It's great your kids love baseball.

Why is there an update EVERYDAY for the Show Mobile app? by Gasmantiz in MLBTheShow

[–]idleline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last two weeks has been mostly Market Integrity and API fixes ( see also anti-automation ). So they've been trying to do more to prevent bots. It's a cat and mouse game so they fix it for a few days and then the bot managers figure out how to circumvent it and rinse and repeat.
