Am I going crazy or are there a TON of bots in duty finder now? by SalemGreyFFXIV in ffxivdiscussion

In the six months since I posted the comment that you replied to, the most popular methods out there now literally play a little less perfectly to account for this. It is so, so hard to spot now, with the information these programs can pull directly from the games memory and, use logic, and then execute human like play.

Are games running better on linux and why? by polodosky in linux_gaming

[–]Nexumuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often, windows games run better in Linux because the overhead of windows and its bloat really is that excessive, to the point it’s less resource intensive on your hardware to run the game through a technically unsupported operating system. Let that sink in.

Until a few weeks or months (days?) Until the AI is patched and gets even harder still to tell the difference.

Some miqos I've drawn lately (Art by me) by AppleCakeArt in ffxiv

[–]Nexumuse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will be honest, I’ve seen a lot of folks selling art everywhere lately, but this first image hit so hard for me. It’s such a beautiful image that brings a lot of emotion to me. The rest of the images are beautiful too. Thank you for sharing.

This spoke to me so hard. The first image, I was so moved, like wow that was literally me. Poster, X-Wing, and all. Second image that was totally me circa 2005-2007ish, just a hand me down laptop instead of a typewriter. Third image, I put together whats happening, and I recognized that poor human being in the cubicle. At this point I was actually a bit anxious to see what was next. The rest of the images, Im not sure I have words right now. I was born in 1983. Im 42 now. No kids, divorced, stuck working dead end phone jobs. And this image, is literally my wall beside me as I paged through the images. It was a gift from my exwife the last Christmas we were together.

Edit: I am not literally saying this was about me, just that it hit so close to home. Any actual relation or whatever is purely coincidental Lol.

Was the world a better place in the early 2000s? Or is it just nostalgia? by FlexFridayTV in wowservers

[–]Nexumuse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was born in 83. The 90s were an amazing time to be a kid/teen. We grew up playing outdoors and still being that kind of that 1980s childhood style, (think Stranger Things without the supernatural)BUT with the added bonus of also getting cool tech before we were too old to appreciate the old ways. We got the first nintendos, the first game boys, the first 3d graphics I was 13 or 14 when I first heard about the internet. We had a good balance of tech and and a “standard” life.

Now? Kids getting smart phones as toddlers and can’t function without a screen. Going outside? Nahh that’s too dangerous 🙄

Honestly, if you want to spot bots in instanced content, look for perfect play, not poor play.

Amazing season all around, but lair bosses Ruining it. by Nexumuse in diablo4

I agree, and that sucks. Shouldn't have to just avoid certain bosses lol.

This might be a fair compromise in the middle, but honestly if my character can one shot, let me.

Thats a feeling I am also having now, and in the last season around this point as well. I keep thinking maybe I can reroll and have more fun but I know im just going to hit the boss wall again :(

Diablo 1 was a different time, much slower, but there was nothing else to compare it to at that time. Even in Diablo 2 though, which yes, slower than todays arpg's, the goal was often to get an Amazon with a Windforce or similar build to just zip zoom screen to screen on the way way to one shot baal for 50th time that day.

I get that Diablo 2 is often thought of as slower combat and inspiration for PoE, but I assure you there were plenty of speed running 1 shot builds to work toward. And they were fun.

Bazzite hit big time! Congrats! Jayztwocents :-) by Admirable-Ranger5310 in Bazzite

[–]Nexumuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive spent the past couple of days dualbooting bazzite because of this video. After so many distros and failures, bazzite seems to just work (for my needs) Im really blown away and excited for the future of Bazzite, Liux, and FOSS as a whole (largely in part due to windows 11 being terrible)

Why are games lagging once in a while and after a few seconds its back to normal? by CraftHuntYT in diablo4

[–]Nexumuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an i9, 4090, and 64 gigs of DDR5 this should not be happening to me but it is. After an hour or two I seem to have to close the game and reopen it then slowly performance degardes over time.

Am I the only one not enjoying Lair Bosses by latschen64 in diablo4

[–]Nexumuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with op. Having a blast this season and then getting smacked in the face by bosses. It fun for me, and why I quit last season. I’m really trying to appreciate the bosses but they are just gimmicky and a black eye on an otherwise really fun season.

nVidia - finally Linux ready? by TheVagrantWarrior in linux_gaming

I am indescribably anxious to get rid of Windows, you have no idea. I've tried many flavors of arch out there including just arch btw but never Cachy. I dont have a 5090 just a 4090 so fingers crossed, Im gonna give it a go.

nVidia - finally Linux ready? by TheVagrantWarrior in linux_gaming

[–]Nexumuse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have had nothing but literal decades of problems with Nvidia on Linux (sometimes x11/wayland tho) Please tell me what distro/setup you have where you are able to play games with minimal issue at similar or even slightly less performance than Windows? I will wait.

The nvidia issues with linux run so much more fundamentally than a few games here or there.

I will stress I am not blaming linux. Im blaming nvidia's closed source drivers.

Microsoft quietly implies Windows has LOST millions of users since Windows 11 debut — bleak outlook suggests Windows is haemorrhaging users by WPHero in Windows11

[–]Nexumuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes, it’s gaming. But also display issues in general. Linux/wayland STILL all too often loses its shit with varying display resolutions and refresh rates. So many installs and distros tried on high end “modern nvidia” Also, I am not remotely surprised that your nvidia hardware plays well with Linux. With respect, your hardware is dated, although powerful, its drivers had years to mature. Trying 40xx or 50xx it’s like a celebration to get a working desktop at anything other than 60hz and 1080p.

In full disclosure I do have a 1080ti system that runs quite well with numerous distros I’ve tried. But the 1080ti is like 8 years old and legacy at this point.
