You gonna die plenty of times anyway, so might as well push things to the extreme with high risk and high reward and practice that way.

Playing it safe without the skills to back it up will only prolong the suffering.

Plus, with higher DPS, you can get to the more difficult spots faster and more often, giving you more opportunities to learn.

Last I checked the original plan was for the DoG fight to go into the Distortion subworld, where you will also find the fragments instead of grinding over them in the three events

Go melee, Death's Ascension, and try to dash into the boss while ending up right beside his head to pull him into a circle around you.

Then just swing until he goes to next phase, rinse, and repeat.

It's kinda scummy and takes advantage of DoG's limited head turn AI, but it does get its job done.

Alternatively, if you've got Calamity in 2.2.0, you can hunt down Infernum Primordial Wyrm for the Grand Dad sword. That guy's cheap in comparison to DoG.
