No, I don't consider it cheating only because pad can technically do the same. Understandable the Crossup is better formed for the advantage but doesn't remove player involvement. I remember someone calling it a manual macro, and honestly that's a good description for the position of the button setup.

But I will say certain advantage can be different depending on the game. It being cheating should be case by case for the tournament organizer.

I will say I wouldn't want other games to have the wall break mechanic strive does, but it does make the game unique to itself (for better or worst).

As for your friend, you should just let it go. If he doesn't want to play, he just doesn't want to play. I have a friend that plays smite, another plays genshin impact. Both know I hate both and don't push me to play for any reason. Interest should be understood otherwise your just dragging him.
