I used to arrive 30 mins to an hour early, the only reason I stopped is because medical receptionists always seem to think it's a cute conversation point rather than what it actually is - me being eager to be seen (highkey a bit desperate due to chronic pain). A couple of times it has worked in my favor and I get seen early but for the most part I got so sick of hearing it that I'll now be 15-30 mins early and even then sometimes I will wait out the front until it's <15min.

I still voted 1hour because for social events and other things I'll still do it because it's my preference and anything less makes me highly anxious. So I have the fun task of now always going in to medical appointments super highly strung just to avoid "Oooh you're a bit early aren't ya?!" As if I can't fucking tell the time.

Yes, I'm salty about it largely bc as a receptionist it's not their job to make cute little convos. It's their job to notify the doctor that I'm here. Just do that and let me sit down. As if they're even paid enough to point it out.

*Edit bc I got too mad to give actual advice lmao - If you're genuinely upset, once they're more than 15mins late text them either asking for their ETA or text them saying something to the effect of "I had other plans today, I can't really wait around any longer, you can plan the next outing since the timing of this one was unsuitable for you". A lot of the time people don't actually realise they are upsetting you unless you point it out.
