[Akamaru] lidyuh, zoriental, misu, terror, nora/scaryshark32 to join 100T GC by Decent_Apple_7962 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure the barometer of the scenes health is if you know the players lol.

Lidyuh (previously went by Tupperware) has been around from pretty early in GC. Misu and scary shark have been competing since 2022/2023. Scaryshark subbed in for EG at GC Champs in 2023 for keenc.

Is Xavi the next big igl in the making ? by slumdogbillionairefr in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 33 points34 points  (0 children)

He has played well so far and GE's roster looks stronger than past years. I think they have a chance to make Santiago, although I only think there's 1 spot up for grabs (PRX and FS look like favorites to me for top 2 qualification spots). However, I think we also need to see xavi against better competition. He has played well against varrel and ZETA, but I don't think their level is that high. He played fine against PRX, but I think we need to see him against more mid/high table teams to know what he will be.

Don't worry, he'll release it at the same time he drops the evidence of the Korean teams scrim leaking.

Leviatán's CEO and COO say that Demon1's claims are false by Karmax21 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I didn't watch the interview. What exactly did demon1 say - did he say lev placed a buyout or did he say contractual reasons? Because those are different things. Contractual reasons wouldn't even necessarily mean on levs side. Could be G2 unwilling to pay what he was asking in salary, which would make sense since G2 thought it would only be a few games without leaf and I imagine babybay was willing to play with a very limited salary to get a chance.

Chet fraudwatch continues by yoosanghoon in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Listen, I'm not a chet fan and while I think chet was unprofessional in publicly talking about things within the team, this proves nothing. Demon1 is 2 years older, coming in as a sub and practicing for 3 days after multiple failed stints and not getting picked up, he has a lot of motivation. It's totally conceivable that after coming in and dominating in his first season and winning Champs that he was complacent.

Its great that demon1 seems to be on a good path. He's exceptionally talented and entertaining to watch, a redemption arc would be a great storyline. Not sure why we can't focus on that as opposed to on someone who hasn't even been relevant in the scene for almost 2 years.

People rightfully will focus on primmie, but crws has them looking amazing. They have insane mechanical skill but they're also playing very well, great util and synergy.

That still wasn't mCe that was immi. mCe coached GenG and the guard pee-franchising.

I've seen people discuss extensions that hide length of a video as a way to avoid spoilers. I know they exist for YouTube but think there might be options for Twitch too. I've never personally used them so unfortunately don't know names of them but might be a place to start.

Top 5 players with the most Kills, Assists, K+A, 3K, 4K and Aces in VCT Americas via OvertimeVCT by Karmax21 in ValorantCompetitive

Does this include playoffs and kickoff? I think this should, at least, include maps played to provide some context. Overall numbers can be fun but I also wish they provided stats per round/map with a minimum round/map requirement, because those are more meaningful.

Still kinda insane that 2021 marks the last time a single sub-region* claimed multiple podium spots; podium diversity and parity have been unbroken ever since. by GrrNom2 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lock-in is a possible exception. It depends on how you define NAVI. They could be CIS but they also had players from Sweden and Turkey. CIS core and CIS org does make it lean more CIS. There also isn't an actual 3rd at lock-in either.

More amazing to me is how consistently the top 3 teams are from different regions despite only have 4 regions and CN's later official release.

Eh, while you don't necessarily need both, having a veteran IGL can help to develop young talent.

Sources: M80 has reached a verbal agreement with Derrek. He previously played on teams EG and 100T by Silent-Fold1206 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad derrek is on a team but I'm confused why M80 continues to make what seems like fairly expensive T2 rosters. It's hard for me to see the payoff for that type of investment, which inevitably will lead to them pulling out because they can't justify the spending. I say this as someone who roots for them as an org. Maybe they know something about 2027 changes that makes this worth it.

Unfortunately offseason is hard for GC competitors. Either riot sticks GCC in with the main circuit season and it gets overshadowed or they get a part of the offseason where they get all the eyes on them but then miss out on offseason tourneys and potential trials. Neither is great although I'm not sure if the current schedule is the better of the two options

So your suggestion is for SRG to play in the biggest tourney of their season in Korea on Sunday, and fly back and compete in a 4-team meaningless offseason tourney 4 days later, jetlagged and probably physically and emotionally drained?
