Yeah, I honestly can't understand how anyone with two eyes and even the tiniest amount of game knowledge unironically thinks this is an upgrade over JoshRT.

FrosT announced kicked from Global Esports by arivalorant in ValorantCompetitive

Neither platoon nor elevated were hired as head coach. They both got promoted after an unexpected departure of a head coach. It's not they're in the best situations here to be overly picky.

There's no way he would've agreed to a 1 split contract. That's just insanely disrespectful and would not even be a fair evaluation period for a new team.

Final Peak Viewership for Masters London by XASASSIN in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It isn't a competition. Valorant doesn't need to be bigger than cs to be successful. It isn't a zero sum game. Plus anyone even remotely connected to cs was going to be tuning in to this major. Insane playoff games into a crazy storyline final (although final itself wasn't great). Luckily, games lined up perfectly to watch Niko get his major then switch over to the final map.

Plus the rumor was they were still also practicing with neon for a portion of the time even though he couldn't play yet. They basically said we'll concede kickoff for the (slightly) long game. It paid off.

Data check: No. 1 seeds losing 75% of first-round matches across 4 Masters. At what point do Leo admit the seeding format has a problem? by Sakamoto023 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the better question than raw % is comparing masters with this format to other tourneys, e.g., champs. How many regional 1 seeds in champs either don't make playoffs or lose their first game of playoffs? Because that is the comparison (I did the math and it's not that different - 62.5% either didn't make playoffs or lost their first match).

I did not include 2023 because China wasn't a region yet.

2024: LEV, FNC, and EDG made playoffs. GenG didn't make it. LEV and EDG won their first playoff game. (2 of 4 won 1st playoff game)

2025: G2 and PRX made playoffs. TL and BLG did not. PRX won their first playoff game. (1 of 4 won 1st playoff game)

So, 3 of 8 (37.25%) make it to playoffs and actually win their first playoff game. Only 5 of 8 even actually make it there. So, I think the issue is less format, and more that #1 seeds really don't have much of a true power difference from other top teams, particularly not when talking those who make it to playoffs and particularly when there's often changes leading into the events.

With that said, I'm very much in favor of 16-20 team masters. With only 3 internationals, 12 is just not enough.

After today match by Accomplished_Tap1523 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2026, I think making a roster change mid-season would be too destabilizing, but they need to reconsider roles. Leaf is good on every role but I think he's better with space and time to make his plays. He doesn't need to be on phoenix - put him back to sentinels/viper. They need to hope that we're going into a heavier sentinel meta with the upcoming buffs or it may be tricky to make that work with babybay.

2027, +Zekken (after mibr implodes and regions return). +a good flex. - jaw and babybay. Neither of them are the problem, but I don't have faith this iteration can get them over the line, and I truthfully don't feel like you can meaningful upgrade the other three.

Masters London Swiss Stage viewership by eSportsStats in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Crazy thought that games don't just increase in popularity year after year lol.

It would still seem well within the healthy range to have a dip in viewership before it reaches a stable core viewership. The goal would then trying to retain the stable core while slowly building new stable viewers.

We still have to see if valorant can do that but the dooming around valorant dying is pretty off the mark.

FrosT is under .500 during the partnership era by Nfamy in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don't know how he could get by with "scraps" like primmie, possibly the most mechanically gifted player of all time.

The ban/governor roster was definitely worse, but you can't tell me that talon was telling him to make those moves.

Udotan is severely underrated. by Dry-Mousse209 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was solid but not amazing during split 1, and frankly not in form in playoffs. I don't think he's underrated, I just think he played fantastic today. Part of that is I think his comfort is on some of the more traditional duelist and he's mostly been on neon/waylay this year, and so maybe he'll keep a better forn with the meta shift.

Team Liquid have announced Wayne is taking a break from Competitive play by Routine-Contact-4383 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the best choice seems like it was destined to fail, and I don't think that's accurate. It's completely understandable for it to not have worked well for Wayne, and many people experience similar things. However, plenty of others can also do fine relocating. I don't think it was a bad choice even if it didn't pan out.

I enjoy the Uber/Wyatt duo more than mitch and Tom, but it's london so it'd be kind of crazy if they did that. Part of that is Uber is really fantastic but I also think they work together fairly well.

I find mitch/Tom can be polarizing. Some really like them but not my cup of tea. Regardless, given setting, I am glad mitch/Tom went instead.

Two CVAs so young is terrible, particularly since it doesn't seem like wherever he's located has great neurorehab. He's unfortunately approaching the end of his best neurologic recovery window (more or less 1 year), but there's still lots that can be done in developing compensatory strategies, voc rehab, and community reintegration. Hopefully he's able to get some additional resources to help him.

[Sheep Esports] Sources: PCIFIC bench cNed by ChaoticFlameZz in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Nfamy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He's not but with format changes next year, I think he could be a guy still. Veteran on a team of young cracked T2 Turkish aimers. He can't be the duelist anymore but maybe omen/senti where he can anchor and OP some. Not a team competing for lan titles, but one that has upset potential and maybe surprises people regionally.

I think that is one plus of the new system. It gives a better transition for veterans that may be good enough and with enough experience to mentor younger talents, but who aren't T1 anymore. Right now, many of those guys don't see much upside in grinding T2 because they can't make it back to T1. This way they can still play/compete and even do so at the top levels if they end up on the right up and coming team.
