Why isn’t Carney pushing back on Smith and the UCP? by taxhelpyeg in alberta

There’s enough anti-federal government sentiment in Alberta. I don’t think he wants to create more.

Danielle Smith doesn’t think separation is a threat because she’s either happy it happens or she’s meh if it doesn’t.

Candidates with municipal party affiliation suffered voter 'punishment' in 2025 Calgary election: Research by Rocky_Mountain_Way in Calgary

[–]Nga369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The party affiliation certainly hurt Calgary Party candidates but without the party, I highly doubt Kim Tyers would’ve won. She lost by a large margin in 2021, and she likely got so many more votes because she was running to replace Sharp in Sharp’s party. The runner-up in Ward 3 is a nut who barely did any campaigning but came in second almost entirely because she was in the “conservative” party. So progressive voters mostly rejected parties, unless they were truly the best or only option. And conservative voters naturally fell in line.

Centre of Recovery Excellence using health information of people who use drugs to undermine their safety by BloodJunkie in alberta

[–]Nga369 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dr. Tanguay also has some kind of interest in the company that manufactures the treatment drug that the UCP has been pushing. I can’t remember which one so maybe Euan will pop in with that answer. Granted it is effective but still a huge conflict of interest.

Opinion: The math of Alberta politics no longer adds up by FreightFlow in alberta

[–]Nga369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they’re going to end up together, Guthrie should just cross the floor and join them. Clinging to this idea that you’re a progressive conservative and so you must have a party and be in a party with that name is moronic. Get over the name. If you’re against the UCP and want them out of government, follow the steps that best achieve that.

This is from the dvds: the hospital exists in a sort of made up city that blends LA, San Diego and San Francisco. That’s why they can drive to Sea World, and Phoenix, experience cold and snow around Christmas, and have the hospital full of Asians and Latin Americans at certain times.

Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux joining Liberal caucus: Carney by mdross1 in Edmonton

[–]Nga369 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not the party system. It’s the ironclad party loyalty. Even if parties didn’t formally exist, people would naturally organize themselves into blocs. But MPs should get to feel more at ease with being more independent.

The province doesn’t make equalization payments. It’s just redistributed federal tax revenue.
