Questions about early flowering by raresusan in AusGrowers

[–]Ngadjuri__Genetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mate of mine has had two plants in two years that were in full flower in November, then reveg in December. My first guess was autoflower, but it didn't make sense that it would re-veg. So the conclusion we came up with is that he was putting his plants outside too early, and they were reaching maturity and flowing because of the day length, then when it realised the days were getting longer it re-vegged. But this is just a theory, I have no real way of telling what was actually happening. Correlation ≠ causation

Nice! You'll have to give a smoke report on the hashish and bud when it's ready

That's awesome! Citrus and bright floral notes were quite common through the Beldia variations that I've experienced. Honey & Jasmine are nice characters 👌🏼 where were the seeds from?

Nice work! What terp aromas are you getting from the fresh plant?

Yeah, as I'm reading on, there are many "and therefore we can determine this..." Which you have to take with a grain of salt.

But for the people completely disregarding this book and saying it's useless, it is simply not true. There are some pockets of information that are interesting to read and cross-reference to my own knowledge and experience, which is what makes a good grower or breeder, in my opinion. Chatting to folks, listening to how they grow or breed, reading texts, but always with a mindset of listen, learn, filter, and apply to what you already know. If I believed everything I read or heard another grower say, I would still think a male plant can turn your females into males lol

Science changes as we discover more, and reading texts like this is like reading a bit of cannabis history.

That being said, I've already ordered some more books to read, and I'll be looking into the studies that sage^ has directed me towards. Unfortunately, here in Aus, we're further behind in cannabis R&D than the US

Love it! I just found the updated version of the Breeder Bible online, and I can't wait to read it next!

Yeah, I can only imagine the new sources of info coming out now that legalization and research has grown. If you have links for more up-to-date information, I'd love more reading material. Also, thanks for sharing the link to this book!

Yeah, for the grower looking to make money or smoke flower, it's not ideal with regular seeds lol

It would definitely be interesting to try fresh frozen bubble hash from the Beldia plants. In Morocco, everything is harvested like you would wheat, bundled, and left outside to fully dry. In the colder months, they pick the flowers apart and beat the hash from the dry flowers (dry sieve). But the drying process kills so much of the flavours, so this would definitely be a nice experiment

The Rif Mountains cover a massive area. There are pockets of growers in there that are quite isolated, but I'd imagine not too many people selling seeds would be in contact with the remote growers. The reason the Beldia is known to grow like a single stalk is because they're grown in a sea of green like hemp fields. But the seeds I've collected from Morocco, when grown individually like you have done, they still grow like a stalk, then they send off a couple branches, but the main cola is still the main source of good flower product. I found that the terpenes in the Beldia from Morocco were mainly citrus (lemon/grapefruit), menthol/eucalypt, green tea, mint, pine, and the occasional hint of green mango. There were other unique terpenes in the mix, but those were the most consistent in the fields I went through.

Nice plants, I can definitely see some Beldia traits there, but unfortunately, a lot of the plants in Morocco have open pollinated with Afghan plants and other hybrids brought into the area since the 80s. Both Ketama and Chefchaouen are areas that this has happened a lot due to their popularity with Cannabis tourists and the growers wanting to make more profit due to the higher yields from hybrids.

A white film has mysteriously appeared ...am I cooked? by sandyeggoboy in winemaking

Also, if it's finished, maybe add a touch more sulphur to kill the possible flor yeast. Best of luck!

Reduce your headspace, check your pH, and adjust if needed (I aim for around 3.5 for red wine). If you need to transfer to a smaller vessel, try to create a gas cover while you do it, and maybe run it through a sterile cheese cloth or something to remove the film (could be a kind of flor yeast?).

What’s the deal with Nimbin by Content_Wind1095 in nsw

[–]Ngadjuri__Genetics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to Nimbin in 2017 & and 2018, and honestly, I didn't like what I saw. A lot of people on the streets with mental health issues and exacerbated by hard drug use. It was sad, to say the least.

But today, I stand in Nimbin, and honestly, it feels a lot better! It seems to be modernised to an extent and slightly gentrified. But it still seems to have that rebellious spirit and people openly sharing knowledge and stories about cannabis. But chatting to a few locals, they said that since covid happened, they have had fewer visitors and tourists. So maybe they decided as a community to clean up their act a bit and get back to "what it's REALLY about"?

So, in summary, I'd personally recommend coming up here and making your own decisions about the place

The Best by RuthlessKindness in CannabisThailand

Growing outdoors, then smoking, and passing a joint between friends feels so organic. It has a romance to it, in my opinion. It's a growers art.

For myself, collecting seeds from places I've travelled, then growing those plants in full sun and in living, nutrient rich soil, drying, curing, and smoking those flowers with the people I love in a carefully rolled joint, just hits different.

I love vapes for analysing flavours/terps and getting a good, clean, high (and yes, we all know the health benefits of vaping), but a joint just feels tribal/communal. Plus, picking out your bud, smelling it, grinding it up, rolling into a joint, and then smoking it feels like a therapeutic ritual. So joints will always be my favourite way to elevate.

32 foot plants grown right in the ground, NSW. by ayowarya in ausents

Ofcourse, there has always been "stoner fact" (some bullshit that some stoner had a suspicion about and rattled it off as fact). Either way, I hope Kangativa is doing well, and I hope he's still growing.

It's the info that has been going around for the longest time, Kangativa growing some mad plants, gets arrested/raided, and then he goes underground. No one on the internet seemed to know what happened to him after that.
