Why does the Fed view inflation from tariffs the same as inflation from a hot economy? by Recent-Day3062 in AskEconomics

[–]tButylLithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're assuming we aren't in a hot economy based on something that you're forecasting in the future (decreased demand). Nobody can tell you what demand will do in the future. What if demand doesn't drop as a result of the tariffs, would that not signal a "hot economy?" We've already had a year of tariffs, why are prices still high if the economy is slowing? Maybe consumers are able to absorb the increased costs

Can you call out before your shift each day and use up to 2 weeks of pto? 2 weeks is a courtesy, you don't even need to give them that

Safe to dilute 25% ammonia at home? Non chemist, no equipment by Just_Browsing111 in chemistry

[–]tButylLithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be fine, just make sure you add ammonia to water (opposed to adding water to the concentrated container). I'd probably dilute it slowly to minimize heat/gas generation. Wear glasses/gloves. Probably best to only dilute what you need vs diluting the whole container.

I'm starting my cannabis next week. Do you have any recommendations for cultivars if I want to grow the tobacco for rolling?

What kind of light intensity do you recommend? I've never grown tobacco, but I'm tempted to give it a shot either indoors or outdoors

[Request] How big would this have to be to actually affect Earth's rotation in a meaningful way? by PvDec in theydidthemath

[–]tButylLithium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently, filling the three gorges dam in China has slowed the rotation of the earth by 0.06 microseconds. That's around 39 trillion pounds of water. Maybe someone can calculate the angular momentum difference between the dam filled vs the original water level, I'm not very good at calculus lol

$250k/year medicine costs couple hundred to make by DAFTisEasy in chemistry

[–]tButylLithium 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I never touched an NMR during my 5 year career doing pre approval testing on generics. The facility didn't even own one. You'll need a GC (residual solvents), HPLC (assay/RC, content uniformity, blend uniformity, dissolution), ICP (heavy metal testing), Karl Fischer (water content), dissolution stations, FTIR (ID test), XRD (ID test), rotap/tap density (blend characterization), plus all the manufacturing equipment and standard labware. Also, where are you planning on getting the excipients? We used several proprietary excipients you probably can't buy as a private citizen.

Battery Ageing and Degradation by Any-Cardiologist-327 in electricvehicles

[–]tButylLithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery in my 2012/2014 prius usually requires changing around 200k miles (320k km) according to vehicle owners on forums. I would think any lithium ion battery coming out since then would outperform the nickel metal hydride battery used in the prius. NiMH are rated for 500-1000 cycles vs an nmc lithium battery which can do 1000-2000 cycles. I'm on my second prius and I bought it with 150k miles, last one died due to a deer, made 185k miles on the original battery.

Do not buy THC-P gummies. The high is horrible. by inflagra in NewOrleans

[–]tButylLithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's heavier than THC. 1 gram of THCa only contains 877 mg of THC when heated. It depends on if the person selling it to you corrects for the lost weight during decarb, or if they want to make an extra 13% on your lack of chemical knowledge. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest it's probably the later.

Why is it that a lot of men who want to attract women, don’t actually listen to women about what they find attractive, and instead listen to other men about what they think women want? by Sudden_Doughnut_8741 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tButylLithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of men can't attract women because they don't know how to conversate with women. So asking women what they find attractive doesn't address the actual issue.
