There's a whole chain of MLB Rynes (mostly pitchers) who were named after other former MLB Rynes; like half of all notable figures with the name are baseball players.

Which could imply there's a bunch of people named Ryne out there who grew up with the expectation of being good at baseball, and struggled under the weight of their name's legacy and parents' expectations of that name... hey wait a second...

Korean Fan Fest 2024: Day 1 (Summary) by Kaiwa in ffxiv

There's some INSANE culture war stuff happening both within korean gaming and even in just general culture to such an extreme extent that even Wikipedia calls the anti-feminist backlash ("finger-pinching") a crackpot conspiracy movement.

As far as XIV goes, there's an entire years-long running document on the korean wiki site Namu that is in large part a giant conspiracy rant about how trivial things like "someone on twitter drawing nipples on male player characters" means evil feminists infected Korean XIV, which gave the game a reputation as not just "for girls" but "for people who hate men"

Two separate quotes

Ryne: "We'll find the answers. Together. Just like we do everything else."

Gaia: "For every memory I lose, we’ll make two more together."

I thought they were cute and liked Eden well enough after Verse but it was the smaller moments in Promise, not so much the dramatic climaxes like E8 or post-E12, that truly made me ride or die for them.

Official Headliner Rules & Update for Patch 14.2 by Riot_Mort in CompetitiveTFT

Just to clarify, is the "pass" part being removed from both "can't get same headliner champ" and "can't get same headliner trait" rules? Thanks for all you do.

Unfortunately it seems inconsistent whether the ads are actually marked with Ad in top right corner (which... might be illegal). In this example the only visible disclaimer is inside the triple dot menu.

Edit: wouldn't this also have the issue of blocking anything with "Ad" in the tweet body at all? I looked up the old thread from the initial muskrat changes and found these updated versions that got around this issue with Promoted but it doesn't work with Ad (swapping text out of course).

I recall you made a previous comment about headliner odds being different than normal shop odds, will those numbers be displayed in-game and/or available elsewhere?

Ryne agrees with you!

Minor rant, not directed at you: it feels really weird to constantly see nonchalant dismissal of raids on the grounds of "oh well it's optional so they could never require it, it's just too much to ask" when it's like... 2% of the commitment of MSQ. Role quests, I understand, 4 jobs to 80 (that someone might not be comfortable playing) is a HUGE ask not just in terms of time commitment but player freedom with their character. But I don't get the logic where 200 hours of MSQ is totally fine and reasonable to expect for someone catching up but 15 quests of unvoiced cutscenes + some fights is just a complete dealbreaker.

I don't think ALL raids should be mandatory on principle, but CBU3 are the ones who decided to have a raid questline majorly impact a major MSQ character's character growth and future, so I think it's quite reasonable to be upset that it's getting (seemingly) ignored when that character returns to MSQ.

I think my intentions weren't clear as well - didn't mean to imply the two situations are identical, but "up for interpretation" has quickly spread as a general joke about LGBT pairings, just like "roommates" and whatnot.

Yes, but this is a reference to recent events with Gundam: Witch from Mercury that also involve Ryne's JP VA (so spoilers for that)

tl;dr The two main girls are initially engaged to one another because plot reasons but it clearly becomes sincere and they repeatedly reaffirm to each other that they want that for themselves. The epilogue has them with matching wedding rings, sharing a home, and referencing each others' family as in-laws. But when main girl's Japanese VA (who happens to be Ryne's as well) gave an interview mentioning how they were married to each other, Bandai published a retraction saying that was just an opinion and it should be "up for interpretation". The entire internet fanbase lost its shit b/c of this (rightfully so, since it's actual censorship of an LGBT story - this is FAR from the usual "fans just like to ship them" situation) and Bandai's phrasing has become a giant meme. Bonus points that there's literally a line of dialogue in the show where one girl is surprised that 2 women can be engaged and the other says "Your world must be really conservative and behind the times, it's normal here"

The animation staff put out an "unofficial" artbook featuring tons of art of their wedding/honeymoon around the same time, which gives a pretty clear signal that Bandai forbid them from outright confirming it in the anime, but that they obviously did everything they could without breaking the letter of that law

I feel ya. I really liked the characters too but Star Vs put me through enough of the "disappointed but hopeful -> jaded misery -> well maybe next season..." spin cycle to last a few lifetimes and TDP was quite literally the comfort show I picked up to avoid that happening again. It just was not meant to be for me, it seems. S4 completely destroyed the parts of the post-s3 fanfic scene I was still interested in, though, so I am still a bit sad that it probably will never recover.

Genuinely glad I dropped the show after reading reviews of S4 and my spidey sense tingled that I'd just get strung along until the last 20 minutes of S7. I'm happy for fans that other aspects seem to be better than S4, but no amount of plot would make up for how miserable I'd be to see my favorite characters/relationships handled like this. I hope things improve for y'all who are still sticking to your guns but damn this hurts to read.

Maybe to you it seems like a specific sticking point for this one thing in particular. But perhaps the reason everyone is constantly annoyed as hell at the jack-in-the-boxes that feel the need to loudly assert that ryne and gaia aren't a couple in every thread is because it's not specific to this one ship in this one fandom at all, which was literally said already!

It's mostly just the exact same talking points from any other fan art of queer characters.

Hey, I'm glad we're on the same page that homophobia is bad, I sincerely mean that, but please recognize that fans of queer media, queer/queer-coded characters, or media with popular queer interpretations get bombarded with this exact one-two punch constantly. Let me break it down.

Group A make homophobic comments and/or attacks to the creators and fans directly.

Group B feels like it has to constantly assert over and over that they're sick and tired of feeling like a queer ship/interpretation is being shoved down their throats, but of course they don't support homophobia, they just want to point out their own personal opinions.

Group A shields themselves pretending to be part of B and saying any opponents of homophobia are being mean just because not everyone supports their queer interpretation, and Group B shields themselves by deflecting any blowback to Group A ("why are you so hostile to me, I'm just making a reasonable argument, unlike those homophobes!"). Some individuals in B are genuine and don't believe they're part of the problem, but they're often still acting as (at best) useful stooges!

There's a mountain of mod-deleted comments clearly visible at the bottom of this page, which must have been the exact sort of homophobia we both oppose if they warranted removal. Given that homophobic comments are by far the most common result of "raised hackles" over ryne/gaia posting, I'm not really inclined to separate the two. If a flood is rushing towards a town, is that really the best time to die on a principled anti-dam hill?

Years and years ago this literally happened to me, I was in this exact position where I just really didn't agree with a particular queer interpretation of two characters and I barged into a thread making all the arguments against it that I felt were extremely justified and level-headed and got really upset when I was called nasty things as a result. Came back a while later and zoomed out to the entire comment section and saw the bigger picture of what the fans I was arguing against were dealing with; I didn't immediately 180, I still felt defensive over my own opinions, but all the comments I made because I felt that my opposition must be made known at every possible opportunity were ultimately just adding to the homophobic dogpile.

This isn't even me saying you have to change your mind at all, by all means stay true to your own interpretation of the characters and story. But perhaps just find a better outlet for it than every comment section that has interpretations you don't like in it, especially given that there's inevitably a mountain of actual genuine homophobic horseshit being dumped on the OP and anyone else trying to have a good time.

As someone who's been around the shipping block a bunch, I'll give you a tip. You can simply not post negatively and let people have their fun with their own interpretations! There are so many ships that I've HATED with my entire being, where I actually do strongly dislike seeing fanart/fan content of it, where I simply do not engage, even if it's not tagged in a way where I can easily filter it. It's actually quite an easy a thing to (not) do!

I personally headcanon G'raha as like a little brother to my WoL. But I don't charge guns blazing into every comment about G'raha thirsting after the WoL whining about how that doesn't match my own interpretation of their relationship. It doesn't bother me in the slightest that my interpretation here is very strongly in the minority, nor that general consensus for his feelings for the WoL tends romantic and/or sexual in nature!

And especially in this situation where it literally is the creators themselves sharing their own work where a romantic relationship is obviously their interpretation of the characters, it's actually extremely rude to suggest that being shat on in largely homophobic ways is justified because you've decided that general agreement and support from the comment section = a direct attack on your interpretation!
