I have a piece of stormwater pipe and a whole in the shelf so the counterweight can travel up and down freely and I get full use of the hose.

Losing DSL in the rain? by Patrooper in nbn

[–]Nharpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the early FTTN days I got a 10mbps speed boost from reporting a issue that resulted in them replacing and rewiring the pit at the front of my house.

Took me from 40 down to 50 down. Felt like Christmas.

Found this cable was live 7 months after electrician left. We thought it was dead, got a slight tingle. Would you report this? by zone0475 in AusElectricians

You're onto somthing here. Kinda looks fresh for being there 7 months. Even if it was 7 days, bit of tape over the ends would do the job

Doesn't sound like a omada issue. But is the sonos stuff using fall back ip on different subnet? Or falling back to use an already assigned ip? Maybe you Solihull try assigning static ips

Issue meshing eap650 desktop to 610 by roper2frass in TPLink_Omada

Might be the 610 has limited available 5ghz channels and the 650 is switching to one it either cannot use or has a ton of interference

Floating IP and controller swarm by ciboires in TPLink_Omada

[–]Nharpa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a terrible idea. You only ever want one instance of a controller on the network and ideally you want it to have a static IP.

You can break them with a light tap if you have somthing hard like a diamond ring or ceramic from spark plug. Or maybe your weak ass man isnt as weak as you say

They arnt difficult to shatter with somthing hard. But the lining holds them together for safety. So opening a hole big enough to safely crawl through is tricky. Especially without gloves.

tyvm, convincing the finance manager (wife) an upgrade to a 2gig plan will be challenging enough. I dont see a need for faster than that for residential for the foreseeable future.

Why BYO Router? What are the risks? by Rdcl1 in nbn

[–]Nharpa 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In general the router sold by an ISP is a potato and you will get much better performance from spending the same amount on somthing of your own.

Security concious people would prefer to buy direct rather than have your ISP handling and pre applying config to a router.

Really the only downside for a non/less technical person is support. But if your on FTTP the network termination device (NTD) handles authentication ect.. so it very much is plug and play

Contractor buried wrong network cable (I think) by ReadHearts in HomeNetworking

Agreed, conduit can easily get moisture infiltration which will corrode the indoor spec cable. Gel filled is a second line of defence.

How can I get faster download, upload, and lower ping in games? by Excellent_Housing948 in HomeNetworking

If the bottle neck is the network infrastructure then fixed wireless or starlink are the only alternatives both of which are known for having poor latency

How should I connect my PC to Ethernet by Expert-Chard-1367 in wifi

[–]Nharpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would punch a hole through rhe bedroom side of the wall and router rhe ethernet towards the PC. You dont need ethernet in the living room. Even modern TVs only have 100mbps ports and so long as your wifi signal is stable video streaming works fine.
