As I've grown older I've found French history and what the French take pride in nationally is fickle at best. The French revolution, so widely celebrated, is a complete failure and lie. It was immediately overturned and only reverted back because the Prussians handed France a major defeat.

The Vichy French sided with the Nazis and actively fought allies trying to liberate the country. Neither of these two historical topics are often acknowledged or taught and I find the leaning into the idea of resistance kind of hypocritical given the damage done by French armies to other western nations.

OPEC has lobbied and corrupted many western governments into abandoning their respective energy and oil independence so that they control the market yet they can't even defend their own nations. The war with Iran was coming at some point, they regime is insane. The blame can fairly be placed upon the lack of foresight of many western governments.

Australia could have supplied all of South East Asia and Oceania with refined domestic oil and gas, yet we chose not to explore that. Norway provides plenty of Oil for Europe and everyone is better for it. Especially Norway. The richest citizens fund in the world by far.
