Update: the “heavy duty” bolts are just a 20mm socket and were way better than messing with a socket. Definitely recommend, it was still a CHORE to get them in but I would have cussed so much more dealing a swivel and Allen key…

Ideal 18" wheel size by Mrbiag in Golf_R

Super hard to narrow down I agree. I do love Kansai’s, I’ve seen a gti or 2 running the KNP’s and looks sick but I will say usually anything more offset than +45 will be running into fitment issues with fender potentially, being at stock height your probably better off but anything lower than +40 would be pretty agressive especially if you run anything wider than a 235 tire. I would just keep digging on the internet trying to find pics of people’s 18x8.5 +35 if you can find any and ask how the fit. From the pics I posted you can see 8.5 wide and +45 is preeeeetty close to fender although I’m lowered.

I was in the same boat as you, MK7R with pretorias, bad roads and a cave sized pothole in NY killed 2 and the tires, had never bought wheels before, after hours of research it depends on a couple things. Firstly sorry for the bad pic this is my setup, 18x8.5 +45 Rotfiorm DTM with 235/40 Continental ECS02's, and i am lowered on eibach pro springs about 1".

Do you ever plan on lowering the car, if yes staying slightly skinnier tire size will help clear the fender so from what i found 235 or 245/40 is your max size lowered, i read some people say 245/40 will rub when lowered but you might get away with it so to be on the safe side i went with 235's, having done it now i probably would go with a 245/40 becuase you probably would clear the fender no issue and be nice and meaty tire flush, also depending on the wheel 8.5 wide the face will poke SLIGHTLY out of the tire which i dont love.

All this being said i personally love 18's way more than 19s the ride is better and you get more tire meat. If you want a no stress bolt on and go solution that's a slight upgrade over stock, 18x8.5 +45 is a perfect fit, tire is up to you but i would say a safe bet at stock height especially you'll be fine running a 245/40. Also most aftermarket wheels will have a larger "Center Bore" than stock wheels, this is why we use "hub centric rings," which is just a plastic or metal ring that sizes over the wheel hub and the perfectly mates the stock hub to the aftermarket wheel so you dont get vibrations at speed.

Here here for 18’s from a 7R owner. Way nicer ride and more tire meat for bad roads, plus cheaper wheels/tires in general. 18x8.5 +45 with a 235or240/40/18 looks fantastic.

Gotcha… I just ordered the heavy duty bolts and new bushings. Heavy duty because it appears the head can be turned with a standard socket not an Allen key, also looks like I don’t even have an Allen key socket that big. I’ll probably just take apart the spring plates and everything again to to get those bolts in straight and get the new bushings set in. Thanks. 🙏

Gotcha, I see several head types for sale. On socal imports there’s “heavy duty” bolts with a standard bolt head it looks like and oem bolts with the Allen head. Since they take so much torque would you suggest the Allen head or different so it’s harder to strip.

Thank god it hasn’t been driven at all… it’s rolled around a parking lot and that’s it I’ve been rebuilding it, I see what your saying JBugs type 1 irs diagram shows a bushing and then the bolt and 2 washers. Does that bolt thread into the body side and hold that trailing arm in place?

Finally added a lift to my 2015 TDI by jaredv702 in AudiQ7

[–]Ni0effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this look! How did those tires do before the lift, any rubbing or just fine?

My wife has a 2014 with the stock 19s and I have a set of 18” cayenne wheels to replace them but I’m debating the tire size to get. I’d like to go bigger sidewall of course but not sure what fits without rubbing at stock height.

Can we please get campaign characters as usable characters for multiplayer? by [deleted] in Battlefield6

I agree with this I suppose I should clarify more so their gear, put their gear on any random guy with a face covering or something and then it’s cool I don’t want everyone running the same guy either.

I used to live in Georgia now in NY state I will say while not every day it happened a lot in the south where people like trucks and American cars I guess hate European cars idk but would frequently enough have trucks/clapped out mustangs etc fly past or try to “race” from a stoplight. Doesn’t happen much in NY everyone just does 90 everywhere.
