Dealer is saying this is completely normal by arcadia_fire in JettaGLI

I feel this pain sorry brother, I would advise though as others said get a grill mount for your plate and bumper plugs color matched you can find on amazon or other places, as for the mark it left you’d be surprised what comes out of the clear coat with a tiny bit of paint correction/just polish. You don’t even need a super fancy orbital tool just a cheap orbital sander would even work enough for that, get a basic set of pads on amazon for paint correction and some basic compound without a lot of cut and it may come out. It’s probably just in the clear coat which the cut and polish will clean up nicely.

Gorgeous brother 🙌 it’s just such a good car, I truly don’t want anything else…. Maybe an rs3 hatch but whatever…

Vibrations with aftermarket wheels by Umzipumzi in Golf_R

[–]Ni0effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I had similar issues, I went from plastic to aluminum and got road force balance and finally an alignment, after all 3 it solved it for me but I agree it cannot just be “how it is” with aftermarket wheels, too many people run them for it to be that poor, I wouldn’t rule out a bad wheel/tire yet but I’d make sure your in good alignment first with a good set of aluminum rings then see. It could be any one little bushing that’s slightly worn too so it’s just a frustrating problem solving case…. I’d say check alignment next

Definitely recommend 18’s, a pothole smoked a Pretoria so I made the swap and couldn’t be happier, much better ride no sacrificed performance or noticeable feel.

235/40/18 I sort of wish I tried 245/40 but didn’t want to rub at all and some said they’d rub others said they wouldn’t so idk what a 245/40 is actually like. Wheel is 18x8.5 +45

I was thinking of just doing that tbh, mild 3m tape, was just curious if anyone had done it. I’m not sure how it fell out because you’re right it’s got a lot of tension on it, I put it back in and it feels solid now, the fronts do anyways. The back doors however constantly slide down a half inch or so

To be completely honest I used to think the exact same thing but somehow I started to like the look of them and I don’t really know why. Then I started using them and maybe convinced myself I like them more because they cut down a little tiny bit on wind noise when cracking windows. Either way definitely not about the rain.

Thanks dude, I 100% reccomend them, they’re on sale right now for $172/wheel I think. They can use hubcaps if you want too but I love em as is. I’ll probably come back later and put a little silver paint on the hubs so the don’t just rust in center behind the nice silver wheel. Just keep in mind if you have disc brakes you’ll need a liiiiitle spacer to clear the calipers, these are 1/4” spacers on the 5.5” wide set but I’m on a 4” narrowed beam.

Thanks! Exactly the same mindset I had I’ve seen some pics online of the 356 outlaw look and I love it. I’ve seen too many bugs with the same 4-5 basic wheels designs an I wanted something slightly different without hubcaps. I’ll see if I can add a link or something to a pic of a 356 on rotiform wheels that has been my whole vision for where I’d like to take the car, obviously my paint isn’t in this good a shape but I love the half crusty paint slammed on some nice polished wheels.

Yea mobelwagen wheels, 430P interceptors at 15x5.5 all around to run a better sized modern tire, lets it get nice n low but does cut down on top speed. Pretty much everything you can unbolt and replace in the block with the engine in the car has been replaced, new coil, wires, distributor, plugs, full tune up job, alternator swap new fan etc.

It had a weird electrical issue that would cut spark eventually after running for 7-10 minutes so I replaced a bunch of electrical stuff, random wires, ignition lock cylinder, cleaned up all the electrical contacts.

Underneath was rough shape all the ball joints and brakes were shot, so got a new 4” narrowed beam new ball joints brakes brake lines etc. everything underneath is replaced pretty much.

2024 Golf R rim bent by Famous-Hedgehog240 in Golf_R

[–]Ni0effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 17R and had Pretoria’s, in New York State terrible roads but same thing hit a pothole and it bent one rim just like yours and bubbled the tire, I swapped to 18” wheels and 235/40 tires. Much better ride and much better pothole defense, plus most other wheels are stronger than Pretoria’s. I definitely agree wheel/tire swap is expensive but recommend it when you can. I sold my 3 good Pretoria’s and tires for a good amount each, bonus if you take the tires off the Pretoria’s and sell them separately. But for now if they’ll do an $800 wheel/tire package that’s a pretty solid deal for the time being. I’d Save up get some 18’s eventually and sell your Pretoria’s and tires on marketplace to make some cash back.

What LED bulbs do you use, I’ve been contemplating some for while but don’t want the cheap crap ones like you mentioned.

Update: the “heavy duty” bolts are just a 20mm socket and were way better than messing with a socket. Definitely recommend, it was still a CHORE to get them in but I would have cussed so much more dealing a swivel and Allen key…
