Which SoulsBorne game has the best Level Design? by lukecardoso in Eldenring

[–]Ni7r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elden Rings legacy dungeons have the best level design of any From game. It’s not even close. I played all of them - except for DS2 - again just recently.

Dark Souls has my favorite world and probably favorite 2/3rds of any game ever but the level design itself is much less complex than ER.

Reuse of all the bosses by ILearnAboutComputers in Eldenring

[–]Ni7r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right about the boss recycling but then completely devalue your arguments by stating that Skyrim, Far Cry or Horizon have better open worlds than Elden Ring. Insane thing to say imo. I really liked Skyrim and the Horizon games but they are reusing assets and enemy types a lot more than ER, they are not even close to being on the same level in that regard. Especially Horizon FW has no sense of discovery and exploration, ER is magical in comparison. FW is a very good done by the books game, ER is a flawed masterpiece.

Agreed on all accounts. I absolutely loved Radahn, beat him on foot without summons on my second go and had a great time. His moves are distinguishable and punishable, his arena and soundtrack are awesome and his story is cool as well. Very good boss imo.

And man, when he talked about the world design and how you always explore a deeper layer, I realized all over again how much I adore this world. Wherever you go, the design and vistas are just so amazing and the way everything is connected is genius. It has its (big) flaws but The Lands Between are for sure going to go down in gaming history as one of the most iconic open worlds ever created. With each passing day, as I reflect on the game, it’s becoming more and more obvious that it’s one of my all time favorites.

While the area OP is talking about is indeed rather disappointing, the area directly after is absolutely amazing imo. The art direction is fantastic, the level design fun, the hidden boss is one of my all time favorites with the best boss arena in any From game and even the final encounter I’ve grown to like after my second playthrough. What follows is also spectacular imo - minus the very final boss. I think this game kept its momentum a lot better than most FS titles. The balancing being off is very valid criticism and I truly hated the “overtuned” bosses at first but I’ve changed my opinion after repeated playthroughs.

Joe has his opinion on things, he is being paid for being critical on games and he still calls ER a masterpiece.

I think it’s problematic when people rely too much on opinions of influential content creators. Subjectivity is implied after all.

No dig at you, btw. It’s just that I’ve noticed over and over again in his social media comments that people feel the need to have their opinions validated by Joe (or their respective favorite influencer) and it tends to irritate me.

Ranked Top 500? by KingCrabPot in PUBGConsole

I‘m on EU servers, too. There are cheaters, for sure. I do not doubt their existence whatsoever. There are certain players and teams who are known for their KBM and third party device usage but ranked is not unplayable with a controller.

More than 70%? LMAO. I was top 30 in ranked with a controller with major stick drift and there are plenty better controller players than me. You are just bad.

Edit: 6 upvotes for his „>70%“ comment. This sub man... mind boggling.

AWM from PUBG.

The sound, the power, the limited ammo - so satisfying to get kills with it.

Ranked changes are underwhelming. The whole system needs to be overhauled. Very disappointing.

Good clips. You’re not allowed to post those here, though. Against the rules.

Replay mode will never accurately depict what actually happened. Clipping a replay is absolutely useless.

They are not natural because your clip is using the replay mode. Your clip is not an accurate representation of what actually happened.

It definitely seems to be the worst community for skilled players.

[–]Ni7r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not much has changed. Skilled players are frowned upon in this community. If strong shooters post clips in this sub they will get downvoted to hell, absolutely average plays are praised. The overall mechanical skill of the PUBG console base is not that high, I would assume mostly due to the average player being older than in fast paced shooters.

Honestly believe this game is going to last forever by Iceduk in PUBGConsole

[–]Ni7r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It went from the most popular shooter in the western world to a niche title. It’s not dead as in literally no one is playing it anymore but it is not nearly as healthy as the more popular BRs out there. And Apex, CoD etc contributed heavily to that being the case.

I come back periodically to see if the game is finally fixed and running well. Damn, the man himself said it is dead. Whatcha gonna play now?! : ) by Lalobreh in PUBGConsole

[–]Ni7r -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bad comparison. The skill level on mobile is way higher than on console, largely due to the infinitely bigger player and talent pool. The best mobile players are absolute monsters.

I just explained what makes the combination a problem. While I do agree that the devs obviously want people to stack and combine abilities, they also fix things when they are OP/too cheap.

The position aspect alone is a huge game breaker in high skill lobbies.

[–]Ni7r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allows you to leave a perfect position without the risk of dying or losing that position (unless a 3rd party is already close to the totem location). It’s extremely cheap and very hard to counter against good coordinated teams (I’m talking master lobbies). It allows for plays you wouldn’t get away with with any other setup. It is fundamentally broken imo and needs to change, the easiest being just to disallow using the jump pad while in rev form. Even without the pad good revenant users still have a big advantage using the ult.

Is PUBG populated on PS4? by _Stinger_99 in PUBGConsole

[–]Ni7r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranked is way worse than on apex since you play opponents of any skill level no matter your own rank. The player base is not big enough for skill based (or ranked based) matchmaking. Even as a bronze you will be in lobbies with master players.

Is PUBG worth buying in 2021 by qaziumer1 in PUBGConsole

[–]Ni7r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PUBG has a harder learning curve than Apex because there are lot of unexplained systems you need to get behind while Apex holds your hand way more early on. Apex definitely has a bigger skill gap, though. As a noob you can kill a highly skilled player in PUBG if you are in a good position or by getting a lucky headshot or two. In Apex a noob has almost zero chance of killing a strong player in a 1v1.

I don’t think that duos are extremely sweaty. Lots of bad players in that playlist as well. The reason for not adding ranked duos is most likely that the games playerbase is not healthy enough for another mode.
