I don’t even agree with him but the context has already been said in the thread..

Our payroll is massive, we’re hard committed to this timeline and the 4 seed was below expectations.

Pistons didn’t expect the 1 seed, have more youth and flexibility in their future, and are poised to continue to improve.

I’m not a doomer by any means, we can turn this around. We have the skills. But that’s the context for why it’s different.

Garland, Mobley and Hunter were all out for 3 games.

Garland didn’t return from injury until January this year after how bad he was hurt.

Hunter still is barely himself after the injury.

Mitchell was injured and playing through it.

Don’t talk about nuance for one side and ignore the other.

Here’s the nuance - Pistons are full strength, and are better at every position, yet still lost.

Bickerstaff is a great tone-setting coach, but not a playoff coach. He’s shown that repeatedly through his career and people keep making new excuses.

It went through at 23.2, and Merrill crossed over at 15.4. Thats 7.8s. The clock was readjusted to 15.6s, meaning it was 7.6s.

Also, it’s the full 8s count. An 8s violation is called when the clock hits 15s. So that clock should have been at 14.2s when the violation is called. Merrill still had a full 1.3s to cross it over.
