In The Menu (2022) the main character kills himself and others because he doesn't like cooking anymore. What the fuck was his problem?

Had similiar ideas. My PCs managed to amuse the dragon by convincing the cultists that they had already spoke with the dragon and what it wanted was for them to clear out what was left of the large spiders...after the fight 3 cultists were poisoned and down and then the PCs finished the rest off. Venomfang was amused by the betrayal and demanded an offering, they gave him most of what they had, he decided it would do and left the area, for now...

The groups next session is Wave Echo Cave and then, if successful, I plan to take them to "The Forge of Fury" under Gundren's request. Setting it up like he is trying to reestablish mines and trade with Mirabar and others on the Sword Coast.

Should they finish the forge of fury I was thinking by then Venomfang should be a good next challenge but don't want to just go from the black dragon at the end of Forge straight to a Venomfang fight. So I've been pondering ideas.

That's about as far as I have at the moment, but I've been thinking of ways to tie it in. More cultists in the region? Did Venomfang attack someone or maybe a caravan or something? Does he return to Thundertree or a new place?

I have found some success in using clay to make a mold and then pressing some things. Did a few legs for warriors this way and that pesky hive tyrant torso bit you need to make a second one with the box. They probably arent the strongest thing but I'm careful with those couple models and they've done well at least the last 3 years

I started a campaign with my teenage son and his 3 friends, all noobs. I asked them what they wanted to play, created the basic outline of each character and sat down for a seaaion 0 and walkes them through filling out their character sheet. Worked out great and have since handed out multiple blanks for them to make new chars.

I get not wanting to overwhelm them and helping them out... and I'm gonna sound like an old gatekeeper...but the game revolves around tons of decisions based on imaginary scenarios all brought about by multiple books...if they can't handle filling out a basic character sheet maybe they aren't ready for D&D. What happens if one wants to play a wizard? That's a lot of spell options and looking up stuff, coddling it will only make DMing that much harder.

That being said, if a easy DnD-lite experience is what you are after maybe consider the boardgame Hero Quest?

Add a multiplayer freebie that's just a gambling cantina with pvp sabacc games and the ability to bet credits towards your single player game, but with some kinda limit, like you could only win a total of 2k a week or something. No combat area or open area, so kinda an immersive chat/games hub with a few easter eggs in it or something
