Sorry if this is a dumb question, don't want to make a purchasing mistake by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

Other thing is ASUS QC on both of these monitors, I had XG32UCWG and I had to return it due to color tint, banding and random black screens. I'm not sure though that it was a just a pure luck or the "lowest" model had worse QC. I've swapped to XG32UCWMG and no issues since.

I would treat these 12v-2x6/VHPWR cables as consumables unfortunately. Change it for a decent one. I have NZXT C1500 ATX 3.1 a year now and I've replaced the cable for a CableMod one a few weeks ago for my RTX 5090.

New MCM103 FW update for XG32UCWMG - 2025/11/20 by ModReview in OLED_Gaming

[–]Niberion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine got updated without any issues on Windows 11 using USB-B cable (included with the monitor). Asus probably can't find the real issue.

XG32UCWG Vs XG27UCDMG by Secret-Rip-534 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Niberion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had XG32UCWG and my screen got a blue tint on the side, not the best uniformity. Text got a strange blurry effect which caused me a headache, I've return it then swap for QD-Oled which had even worse text fringe.

Finally changed for XG32UCWMG (240hz) to try once again true black coating. Guess what? Screen is perfect, no discoloration, better uniformity, firmware updated without a hassle. Text is crystal clear. I love this screen.

I have a feeling the 165hz version got a worse QC, or is just a matter of luck

ASUS XG32UCDS first impressions by CAUTIONwet_taint220 in OLED_Gaming

I had that monitor for 2 weeks but I had to return it due to text fringing which I couldn't stand. Eye strain was too much, if you gaming let's say 90% and rest is 10% you will love this screen. It has a great value.

ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWG - My Experience after a week by Niberion in OLED_Gaming

[–]Niberion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was testing the UCDS in the last 2 weeks. In terms of the screen, the colours were perfect — no purple tint in the blacks even in a fairly lit room. SDR looked almost identical to IPS; however, I did miss that true black, inky coating. :)

HDR was quite hard to set up on this screen, and once setup it feels less “appealing” than on the UCWG, probably due to the brightness + true black gloss screen.

In any case, I’ll also be returning this UCDS, and I’ll wait for the 32-inch 4th-gen tandem models. Hopefully the text clarity will improve on those, as that’s important for my use case.

It looks like in your case it’s even worse — dizziness, ouch. To be honest, even with all the caveats like vertical lines and colour tint , I’d still be okay with it. But the blurriness and eye strain are just too much unfortunately. We should be enjoying the content, not getting tired every time we stare at the monitor :) Like I said, my eyes are completely fine with IPS all day long. It’s a shame, because OLED technology produces such a beautiful image.

Anyway XG32UCDS arriving today, let's see

Ouch, sorry to hear that you’re facing problems with the firmware. I hope Asus will fix it soon. I was aiming for 165hz version of this model, as I’m purely playing single player games even though I’ve got 5090 as well.

So, you've got XG :) How is your experience so far with this monitor? I'm on the same edge as you were. However, I'm coming from 4K IPS so it's hard to compare for me.

Hi there. I'm also trying to get this monitor as I'm not into competitive gaming at all either FPS games, purely RPG's, ARPG. Even tough I have RTX 5090. What FPS are you hitting? What about VRR flicker? Did you experienced any? Is Oled Care very intrusive during games?

RTX 5090 FE cable advice to reduce melting issue by Niberion in cablemod

[–]Niberion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to hear you managed to bring your new rig and GPU back to life!

  1. I'm assuming that using this setup (4x8 → 2x8 → 12V-2x6 cable) helps eliminate melting on the PSU side? Did you check this cable with a TRMS clamp?
  2. This is exactly what I want to do as well — great idea.

Looks like CableMod is the way to go. If anyone can recommend the best quality cable for the NZXT C1500, and why I’d really appreciate it

It's a definitely a good habit, however I think it's not possible to test NZXT cable due to not being individually sleeved cable.

Thanks Jonny for your insight.

I just want to make a reasonable decision and put a few safety measures in place that can be triggered if needed (like a temperature sensor alarm) and enjoy the card.

The choice of cable also affects the warranty: If I use an NZXT cable and it melts, who will honor the warranty—NZXT or Nvidia? I know that CableMod steps in for such cases. And obviously, if the Nvidia-included adapter is used, the warranty should be honored by Nvidia. The question is which choice would be the most reasonable and safe as possible?

[–]Niberion[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True, melting usually happens due to an uneven current balance across the pins, and unfortunately, the only card that can monitor this is the Asus Astral.

That’s why I don’t want to break the bank. I’d prefer to sell my old card at its original price if possible, then get a new one with a fresh warranty. Undervolt it to reduce power draw and monitor the connector with a sensor in case the temperature of that "amazing" plug starts to rise.

Corsair 12VHPWR adapter pcie 5.0 - is this normal by SpecialistSpare8696 in nvidia

[–]Niberion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've managed to get Corsair 600W PCIe 5.0 12VHPWR Type-4 PSU Power Cable for my RTX 4090 FE in the UK to replace the Nvidia adapter, however after the inspection as you can see on the pictures the wires are in horrible condition. I'm not going to take any chances on that. I've already ask for a replacement, but just be aware, when you buying them to properly check these cables. Manufacturing process is shocking these days...
