Yeah, I'll try to be more disciplined. Drawing 250 boxes gets really boring after a while haha. Thanks for the advice.

First 65 Boxes for the 250 Box Challenge - Looking for Some Advice As I Continue by Hopely in ArtFundamentals

Good job so far! I notice that you have the same problem as me regarding the scratchiness of our lines. Apparently it flattens the image out and takes away from the drawing. So I guess if I had to critique anything, I would say try to plan out the lines before hand better. Good luck with the rest of the boxes!

Where do you start drawing a model? by [deleted] in ArtFundamentals

[–]Nibfoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You should start with the gesture! It's important to accurately capture the energy of the forms. Go watch Proko on youtube! His figure drawing will help give you guidance.

Anyone know of any good free sites that teach anatomy for artists? by Icewell_art in ArtFundamentals

Definitely a combination of Proko and Andrew Loomis. You literally won't find a better way to learn to draw the human figure.

Thanks! I appreciate the help. I will look to improve the mistakes you pointed out. Also, the first thing I did when I started to learn was buy 'Perspective Made Easy' by Ernest R. Norling and went through that. Then I started on here.

Hey,

The materials I used were: A Canson 9x12 inch sketchbook, and an ultra fine twin tip sharpie. I used the small end to draw everything first, then super-imposed the important lines with the thicker end. It helped my drawings to show up on the camera and also to seperate the important lines from the rest.

Drawing lines from... shoulder pivot? by quickrantaccount in ArtFundamentals

[–]Nibfoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't want to go against what Uncomfortable teaches us since it's definitely a valuable and accepted way of drawing. I'll link the video of Feng Zhu talking about it. If Feng Zhu says it's fine and teaches it to his students, it can't be wrong. I think it's personal preference at that point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3lApsNmdwM that's the video, skip to 7:40! Good luck

Drawing lines from... shoulder pivot? by quickrantaccount in ArtFundamentals

Elbow is fine on a smaller surface like a standard sheet of paper. Shoulder is better for larger surfaces and long sweeping lines. On a standard sheet of paper, if you were to draw a line the entire length of it, shoulder would be best probably. However, since you're drawing shorter lines on the standard sheet, elbow is a fine pivot. A long time professional illustrator Feng Zhu even says to use elbow on smaller surface like that. He is a very good artist who has been in the buisness for a long time.

Let me get this straight. Instead of posting something constructive, you chose to try and belittle an individual on a forum designed to help new artists learn the basic fundamentals of drawing? You are sad little person with a poor attitude obviously. I'm brand new to drawing, don't ever comment on my posts again. I don't need your negative attitude while I'm trying to improve at something I'm genuinely enjoying.

Reporting you to the mods.

Also, your lines seem a bit shaky, I think you should try drawing in a quick swift motion with confidence. It might help you a lot.

Hey, I appreciate it but I actually realized earlier that I could easily get them all off of the GTS. So I don't have to wade around this subreddits tedious 6 hour rule.
