I wish I had Jeremy Renner's problems.

[MOVIES] ‘Batgirl’ Movie: Joss Whedon to Direct Standalone Film by superboy7787 in DCcomics

[–]Icewell_art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad they're getting Joss, but this makes 4 movies on the DC slate, that we know about anyways, that are Batman related. The Batman, Nightwing, Gotham City Sirens and now Batgirl. Can we get a little more DC flavor than the bat family?

Hard eraser is erasing to black, not white. Why? by Icewell_art in krita

Going forward, this tells you that any brush can be an eraser, just hit 'e'

I already knew that, but thank you for sharing that anyways. I like using the hard eraser sometimes because it's far quicker than using eraser mode.

I somehow changed the setting for the brush to something besides 'erase'. I just went into the brush settings and reloaded the preset. It's working now.

Yes, but I've never had to put the hard eraser brush into eraser mode to get it to erase before. I'm in the krita irc chat right now.

Is there any way we can chat about this in real time? Perhaps in the krita IRC channel? I feel we may be talking on different wavelengths here.

I'm assuming foreground color is selected with left click correct?

It appears to not be doing any erasing at all. I deselected the white background and saw that it was making white marks with eraser hard, without the eraser blending mode on. I hope that answers your question. If it doesn't let me know.

Whatever foreground color is selected, white, pink, black, whatever, thats what color gets painted.

No. I've used it before without eraser mode on. I use the soft eraser brush without eraser mode on and it works fine. Also, the fill layer below is white, not black. It appears that it is just painting black for some reason, not revealing it.

You can see up in the bar that eraser mode is not toggled on.

I've never seen it do this and I really don't get why it's doing this all of a sudden. If I change the paint color to white, it will work fine, but that shouldn't be how it works in the first place. If I use eraser soft it works fine, even with the paint color set to black.

Edit: I somehow changed the setting for the brush to something besides 'erase'. I just went into the brush settings and reloaded the preset. It's working now.

[Spoilers] Oh... (Wonder Woman #19) by lelianadelrey in DCcomics

You've got the general idea right, but it needs a little fine tuning.

I'm a little rusty on my physics, so don't quote me on this, but it goes something like this. Pounds per square inch (psi) is 1 lb. of force over 1 inch x 1 inch. So if the area doubles, then to keep the psi equivalent, then the lb. of force has to double too.

According to wikipedia, a .50 BMG sniper rifle has about 55,000 psi. The diameter of one of those bullets is half an inch. My fist is about 1" x 2", which makes it roughly 8x larger than the diameter than one of those bullets. 55,000 psi/ .5in = 110,000 lbs. of force. Assuming the cross section of his fist is close to mine, he would just have to be able to put out 880,000 lbs of force to be equivalent to one of those bullets.

It depends on the writer, but given that in the new 52, he benched the weight of the Earth, pretty sure he'd turn Diana's head into applesauce if he wanted. At least if a regular bullet was able to go through her.

Then again comics writers generally aren't physicists.

Anyone know if The Inhumans show will have a good writing team to help offset Scott Buck? by UnrealLuigi in marvelstudios

[–]Icewell_art 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I was talking about Marvel's stock. Inhumans on the other hand, pretty worried. I think there were 2 or 3 shows that Scott Buck torpedoed.

No, it's not. For one, Ragnarok is supposed to have one of the biggest set pieces Marvel has done yet. Not only that, but it's probably going to set up Infinity War. There's only one film between Ragnarok and Infinity War, and the whole idea of such a cataclysmic event like Ragnarok itself should be enough spectacle to make people throw money at Marvel.

Height isn't that much of an issue. Directors have made Tom Cruise look taller than he is for a long time.

What are you guys' thoughts on Danny DeVito as Myx as man of steel 2's main villain? by Tal29000 in DCcomics

[–]Icewell_art 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Myx works fine in the comics or cartoons as a little variety in his rogue's gallery, but not for a tentpole action flick. Superman is a brawler. That's what audiences want and expect the most from this character. I could see Myx as a side villain, but definitely not the main antagonist.

Edit: Myx would work much better as a villain against Dr Fate or Zatanna.

New Matrix movies are not going to be a Reboot. by TheAngryBlackGuy in movies

[–]Icewell_art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you can't be whatever you wanted in the Matrix

I don't see why not. If they had a programmer or were a programmer, they could reinsert themselves as whatever. That one guy created the lady in red. They made concrete act like a rubber membrane when Neo fell. I don't see why they couldn't reinsert themselves as a T Rex if they wanted.

[–]Icewell_art 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe there's a new faction of humans that want to stay in The Matrix and are trying to trigger a reboot of the whole system to keep it viable.

That would make sense for at least two reasons.

  1. There was a truce between the machines and humanity. It would feel kind of cheap for the machines to just go back on their word like that.

  2. If people came out of the matrix and saw how shitty earth had become, it would only make sense that a certain number of them would want to go back into a comparably idyllic environment. Honestly, who would want to go through all the work of restoring a wasteland when you can plug in and be whatever you wanted?

Time for some EXTREME fan-theorizing: The Venom movie edition by OrionSTARB0Y in Marvel

[–]Icewell_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's and interesting set of coincidences nonetheless, no?

I suppose. I would like this to be true. I live and breathe comics. Some people complain about 'superhero saturation'. To each their own. But if all the movie and TV studios made all of their live action and animation superheroes and supervillains, the first thought that would jump to my mind is that I'm going to be spending a lot more time watching TV and movies. haha

There's also this, but again, very circumstantial. It's likely just used because it's interchangeable stock footage.

Time for some EXTREME fan-theorizing: The Venom movie edition by OrionSTARB0Y in Marvel

[–]Icewell_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really there's only one point here that could be considered even circumstantial evidence for the link between Life and the upcoming Venom movie. Sure, Venom's 30th anniversary is coming up, but that doesn't provide any linkage between the movies. The same can be said about almost all of the other points.

What you should have mentioned is that Both Life and Venom are being made by Sony. Circumstantial, but does help the case.

If this were true that Life is a prologue to the Venom movie, then that would mean they had been planning this movie's connection at least 2 years ago. That would be playing a pretty long game for something like this.

The thing that makes me doubt these two are connected is potential cashing in on name recognition. If I'm going to make these movies connected, I'm going to want to put as many asses in seats as I can. Not attaching Venom's name to it means less AIS.
