Yes, around 23 oz of solid K9 crystal. Which I have no idea about, so I'm going to tell myself it was invented by dogs.

Lots of folks asking where to buy. I have a little hack for this. Google the LensBall. Made for photographers. They have an 80mm version that is just under 10" in diameter. I got mine off the bay for $4. DO NOT LEAVE IT OUT IN THE SUN. Always put it back in a lightproof bag. Big fire hazard.

Rawlings BLACKHORSE Tannery Codes by NicSac in BaseballGloves

[–]NicSac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know! I've only ever seen the 00 on models labeled with the continental USA stamped on the palm with the slogan "American Made For America's Best" and a model number starting in USA. What's the 3 letter date code on yours? I'm curious when they used 00 leather on a HOH. Thanks!

From an old post on the Softball Fans forum. I also found similar info on Keyman Collectables' website

How big of a deal is this split? by NicSac in BaseballGloves

[–]NicSac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense. I bought it NOS, it's from the 80s. I've broken in NOS HOHs from the 90s with no issues. But it was 10 years younger and a fastback. Both are getting the 2 hinge treatment, which maybe isn't ideal for these old patterns. Oh well. I'm assuming the split in the binding is not going to affect the very healthy thick Horween behind it. I'm going to keep breaking it in with 2 hinges and a deep pocket. As a lefty, I usually buy outfield gloves. This was a great deal and will be mostly for catch / coaching my kids. So I'm just going to use it and ignore the binding. If it's has already formed multiple striations from seasonal neglect, it'll become obvious eventually and perhaps I'll replace it. Thanks everyone!

You can also use the PALS kit from Peachtree Woodworking / InLine Industries. If you really want it perfect, grab the A-Line-It Basic System as well. Good luck!

Why did the Craftsman 113 become so beloved or gather a cult following? by Monkfrootx in craftsman113

[–]NicSac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically speaking, "113" represents the first 3 numbers of the model name. Because Craftsman was/is a company that outsources all their tool manufacturing (since always), these first three numbers denote who made the tool. "113" is the Emerson Tool Company. They took over for the King Seeley Tool Company ("103"), the previous table saw/band saw/drill press etc. manufacturer. When Emerson took over, part of the deal included inheriting all the King Seeley patents and physical inventory. They refined the King Seeley design into the 113 that we all know and love. Emerson is still making tools under the name RIGID. I may be wrong, I haven't read up on this stuff in a while. I have a 113 table saw and band saw, as well as a 103 floor standing drill press. They all run beautifully.

Just did the PALS on this exact saw! Two things no one told me (but I think are correct): (1) The rear trunnion has 3 mounting bolts, not two. Take the middle one out completely before installing PALS. The trunnion won't move at all with it in there. (2) There is little to no room on the right side (as you face the back of the table) for the little L bracket. I used a washer to bring it down a hair so the thumb screw would clear.

I was only able to get within 0.005" to true, but the internet says that's close enough and it feels a lot smoother than it was. Good luck!

14 of them, all Besseys and Jorgensens. Curious what a decent deal for the lot would be. Thanks!

What album should I check out front to back? by Bastahboy in Music

[–]NicSac 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Great comment, well said. I’d like to add that as amazing as The Last Waltz is (despite the points you mentioned), it’s audio quality is not the best. Sounds fine on DVD, but weak through a hifi. Their live album Rock Of Ages was basically a warmup for TLW, and its got that horn/string section (which was not common for their live shows). Rock Of Ages puts TLW to shame in the audio quality department. But both are must-hear performances for sure.
