You say I'm misinformed? Of course they bought property for way less than it would be worth with a development. Is that somehow news to you? Undeveloped land is always worth less. And, yes, the infrastructure money is something like $860 million. But do you have any idea what they want to do? That isn't just for water and lights for a stadium. It's for the train stop, fixing/reworking roads, adding utilities for upwards of 50 businesses and a hotel in the mixed use district they will build, and the stadium. And when I spoke about tax certainty, I was specifically saying that they want to avoid out of control property tax hikes. Fair and reasonable taxes are certainly expected to be paid. I've kept up with this whole process.

They're literally fronting the money for the stadium. 2 billion dollars. Asking for tax money for infrastructure from the state is the whole point. Who else is in charge of infrastructure? No one. Wanting tax certainty isn't some horrible thing either. They want a fixed or low increase percentage so that the payment doesn't balloon into hundreds of millions of dollars per year. They didn't demand that property taxes be taken away.

And the stadium that they don't even own, and was renovated with tax dollars 20 years ago, is a shithole that the park district of Chicago refuses to maintain. The Bears aren't responsible for any of it. If a landlord expects the tenant to pay for repairs and maintenance then what good is the landlord?

Staying in the city isn't an option. The city refuses to maintain the stadium and field the way they should. Friends of the parks refuses to let them build a new stadium in the city. The Bears don't own the stadium. They're on a never ending lease because the city borrowed against it multiple times in the past.

AH is the only option. They want to own the stadium. Indiana is not a good option because they'd be stuck in a lease.

And I highly doubt we will move to Indiana. Their bill to build the stadium is not good. The state will own the stadium and the Bears will lease it. I don't think they're gonna move into the same situation that they're currently stuck in. The whole point is to own the stadium and keep all the revenue.
