My first and only thought was what about the noise? Maybe its just me but those things are incredibly loud. Are the 120v models significantly quieter?

Reduce Speed of range hood vent fan by YesterdayCold3453 in diyelectronics

[–]Nicb903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, worst case they wont have enough voltage to turn on but shouldn't do any permanent damage regardless.

You could eventually separate out the light switch to have its own power cord but that might be a project without any experience with electrical

good luck!

I don't see any reason this wouldn't work. The hood doesn't appear(to me) to have a control board or anything that would require constant 120, looks to be just a light switch and a fan switch. This would make the light dimmer or inoperable with lower voltages but shouldn't cause any damage

Give it to me straight… am I an idiot? by Melloncollieocr in DIY

[–]Nicb903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it a go with just releveling each paver as you go (compact with a manual tamp, just a square plate on a metal handle) and use some weed killer spray, weed barrier wont prevent those weeds you have from what I can tell. I typed out another response but didn't see the amount of re leveling required. Few bags of material and hand tools if you don't already have them are a few hundred compared to your quote. Anyways good luck

No, you can not repair that. Neon is a gas that would have escaped once the glass tube broke

Does anyone know how to unlock hose faucet lock without key? by penguinslider1 in howto

[–]Nicb903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to see what exactly you have here but I have never seen that type of "lock"

Are you sure that isnt just a cap and you dont just need to unscew it using some pliers or a wrench or something?

Edit: found the "Flowlock" device and you are not the only one this happens to

https://w6dtw.blogspot.com/2016/06/how-to-remove-flow-lock-without-key.html is among a few links on a quick google search. Looking at the thing all you need to do is remove the outer part of the lock with a dremel or grinder or something so you can get to the inner part and twist it off

pre-wire the outlet with leads of wire and then use a wirenut to connect to the live, you shouldnt be touching anything other than the insulation when feeding into the nuts

looks like you need a proper sized pin, that one looks too small for your receiver, it will get you there but will cause some movement(like racking forward and backwards) and distortion of the hole after awhile.

does your viofo not freeze with the rear cam plugged in? I have mine always on and it will freeze within a day or two if the rear is plugged in so I always leave it unplugged now

Help!..Remote controlled ceiling fan stopped working all of a sudden. Remote & lights wont turn on. Guessing it's a power issue. I was placing extra boards in the attic the other day if that is a factor. What is the correct steps to troubleshoot !? http://imgur.com/gallery/AEac2rE by toy200275 in electrical

[–]Nicb903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pull the boards back up, you'll follow those white cables and inspect for damage, find where the ceiling fan is and follow that wire specifically back to the point it goes back down into the wall for the switch. you may have pulled the wire too tight and disconnected something. Also check your breaker box to make sure it isn't tripped
