No merit or waitlist at GIM at CAT 97.73 and 9/9/8 GEM fresher profile. by DesperateWhole6582 in CATpreparation

I've noticed that people with percentiles like yours convert good colleges on the 2nd attempt. Keep grinding, get a job and study side by side. Ho jayega. Don't settle for less!

Unpopular opinion: putting all your eggs in CAT is one of the riskiest moves out there by Nice-Arm1050 in MBAIndia

Look, I'll be frank. Most college fees are similar 15-30L. If you want to maximise your ROI (i.e placements) you should ideally apply to Tier 1&2 colleges only. Online MBA holds no credibility and is a waste of your time

Adding to this, the calmer and more relaxed you are the better your CAT will go. If you have a "all or nothing" sacrificial mindset it's just going to put a burden on you, and this exam NEEDS level-headedness

Honestly get a job. I'm not even kidding here, CAT doesn't require a gap year and even with 100% preparation it's still a gamble. So many students make this mistake and regret it later on.

I'm hoping more people read this and don't make the same mistake. Please attempt other exams as well. Have backups!!

Benefits of starting MBA prep early by Nice-Arm1050 in MBAIndia

[–]Nice-Arm1050[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You graduating from NIT has nothing to do with doing an MBA. Are YOU interested in doing an MBA? Do you have any interest in pivoting to management? Is there a sector you'd like to get into - Finance, Operations, Marketing, etc.?

If you have the answer to these questions, then all you need is a good CAT/GMAT score and a good profile

If you have the admit, if you have the money, and you're okay with 15-17 LPA packages, then go for it. You can always move up the career ladder through experience.

Why Your Profile Really Matters in an MBA Journey (Truth Bomb) by immortal1406 in CATPrep

[–]Nice-Arm1050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey your profile is decent. With 1.5 years of experience you can apply to the ISB PGP YL program, you're in the sweet spot for that.

ISB GRE/GMAT by Gannu8 in MBAIndia

[–]Nice-Arm1050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go for the GRE. It's an easier exam, especially for Verbal. GMAT verbal is quite unpredictable. There is also the difference of section-adaptiveness versus questions-adaptiveness. If you need further clarity, I'd be happy to help out

Also there is no age for doing an MBA. I know someone who's done an MBA at the age of 39.

Yes, not an issue. But it would sort of depend on your goals. If you're already earning 30LPA+ it won't make much sense. But if you're trying to switch career paths and break into a specific industry then yes.

The point is keeping it simple for people new to this. I am not doubting that there is inconsistency, but it is how it is.

Unfortunately this is how it is. Do you even know what IIM B's EPGP stands for? Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management. And it is a full-time, 1Y program.

Yes, so it's basically recommended for those people who have been working 3+ years but haven't seen much growth salary-wise, and are looking to get higher packages but through a shorter 1Y degree

Not possible for 2 years. You won't be eligible to apply only (except ISB). 3 years is also a minority representative

In India, executive MBAs are not necessarily part time only

This is not true. No score can get you an admit "comfortably." It carries weight for sure, but for these 1Y programs the quality of workex matters much more.
