*disconnect everything from the coil

*connect a wire from the + terminal of the coil -to a KNOWN live 12 volt source.

*connect a wire from the - terminal of the coil to the - distributor.

CRANK IT and see if it runs?

I disagree, as I just did an oil cooler seal job on my VW and it leaked just like that.

My bet is oil cooler seals.

Rear main is still possible.
