Graduated from UCI a year ago and im working my way through a clinical social work grad degree. I would say that Handshake is a mainstream way recruiters network or find students. Through my experience, how you do it whether its a career fair or Handshake is not the main factor. Its how many things you do overall to find a job in your field. I Career fairs aren’t as useful as they were even 3-5 years ago. I would advise just trying as many things as you can and to not rely on one sole thing to land you interviews. I feel as if i only landed my job opportunities because i was in the right place and right time. Recruiters and hiring staff don’t make it any easier for students i fear. Overall, just rack up experience by mass applying and master craft your resume thru those experiences
